We've heard about the smash-and-grabs happening up and down the left coast here. There was a $350,000 looting in LA; 14 were arrested, and all immediately released. We've had several retailers close shop here in the Seattle area, as shoplifting has effectively been all but decriminalized.
The 7th commandment of the Judeo-Christian decalogue states: "thou shalt not steal." Every barking dog, down every country lane, would no doubt agree.
Yet we see a high tolerance for theft coming from the left. The latest crime wave is just a continuation of a long term trend.
A BLM activist said that looting is a form of reparations.
Quote:
"I don't care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy's or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats. That makes sure that person has clothes. That is reparations ...."
Why is the left, accepting of theft? I have my own theory on this, but would like to hear yours.
The only people who are "OK" with theft are thieves. Most people on all sides of the political spectrum are against the looting and thievery going on. It's just a few people who are trying to make this political with the lie that one side is "OK" with what's going on

I think it's a fringe element of the left, but a disturbing fringe nonetheless.
Also, specifically to the extent such a viewpoint is held by someone who identifies as Antifa and similar movements, anarchists are anti-government and don't plot as either left or right.

Did you see the quote from the BLM lady?
How do you explain the decriminalization of theft? It's being done by elected politicos, not by the looters and thieves themselves. Left wing Seattle city councilwoman Lisa Herbold proposed a 'poverty defence' for theft. https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/...their-economy/
Quote:
Lisa Herbold, the city councilmember has proposed a reform measure which would potentially exempt up to 100 different misdemeanors from criminal prosecution. Some of the charges included are theft, shoplifting, harassment, criminal trespass and a host of others.
The left wing county prosecutor has already effectively implemented such by declining to prosecute.

BLM has no problem with it, defends folks that get caught and blames the police for being mean to the poor entitled criminals.

I don't agree with that. You do the crime, you do the time. I believe most people feel that way except for those who do the crime
