The problem with Chauvin is that he proved that there is such a thing as a bad cop and he has now given the 99% of decent cops a bad name.

Chauvin needs to go away, he has already caused enough riots, deaths and Billions in damages.
I agree with your first sentence, but not the other two.

There are always bad apples, but just because one MD might be bad, doesn't mean you can rightfully say all MD's now have a bad name.
With over 1 million LEO's in this country who interact with the public on a daily basis, the incidents of police misconduct/brutality are statistically infinitesimal.

Lastly, Chauvin did not, I repeat, did not cause riots. Instead, it was the unlawful out of control people who perpetrated those crimes.
Nothing justifies what was done after the Chauvin incident. We are a country of laws, and mob violence should never be allowed.
If anyone has culpability for the out of control and widespread rioting besides the rioters themselves, it would be the mayors and governors of the cities/states that allowed the lawlessness to continue, unabated.
That and the media who stoked said individuals into a frenzy.

Chauvin was a trigger. For the first few days.

Anyone rioting more than 3 days later was in it for the kicks and using social justice as an excuse. The US needs water cannon trucks to disperse animals like those in Portland rioting. They need to be deployed in pairs to prevent the animals from climbing on top and disabling the trucks.

Who cares at this point? He will be in jail for decades.

Experiments in abuse of authority have shown that its not good for anyone to have the level of control/authority that police do, for an extended period of time.
