Besides, we are told, if crime rates are racially skewed then the data must be inaccurate. If victims reporting crimes are more likely to say a young black man did it, that's probably because the victims are racist. I kid you not.

I've only used those sites for general guidance but nothing beats a local realtor to tell you about the areas you may consider living in.

I find City Data and https://datausa.io/ also helpful.

The crime information used by the sites prior to this change never showed the race of the accused. It showed a generic explanation of the crime (burglary, assault, theft, fraud ...etc.), but it never implicated any race of the person being accused. So where does the "racial equity" reasoning fit ...??

Taubman said that while the survey includes information on unreported crimes, because it is a survey, if respondents’ responses are racially biased, that bias would be reflected in the crime data.

“And there are troubling signs of this: in the 2019 survey, people reporting crimes were more likely to describe their offender as young, male, and Black than would be expected given the representation of those groups in the population,” he said.
It must be racism, then. There's simply no other possible explanation for it. Certainly there's no way that young black men commit crimes at rates greater than their share of the population.

Actually I'm mistaken .... it never even showed the nature of the crime. I was thinking about the Spot Crime website.

All Realtor and Redfin showed were shades of colors to indicate higher crime areas. the lighter the color the less crime was attached and as the color darkened, so did the level of crime. They never even named the crime being committed.
