Why is this on the Democrats? The Naming Commission is made of mostly retired military leaders, and exactly one Congressman. A Republican.

Army National Guard units do have divisional identities. Even if the last time the divisional headquarters and commander lead the Guardsmen as a unit and not an augmentation to a regular army division in combat was in the Korean War.

It is an army thing since the First Infantry Division put on the Big Red One shoulder patch.
