They are seeing more Omicron now and are predicting another wave.
Looks like the boosters were not as effective as Pfizer predicted for Omicron.

These covid restrictions are NOT temporary. Covid is never going away. Science has long admitted that. Unless enough take a stand against the measures, they will be permanent.
Your surmise is in no way derived from factual evidence as any number of places previously under heavier restrictions and currently undergoing a rise in cases are not moving back to strict lockdowns or even maintaining existing lockdowns.
Just saw this posted in the CT forum regarding a CT state college. Remember, they all have to be up to date with boosters as well.
All students have to take a PCR test 3-7 days before January 18 and get a negative result. They will be given a specific one hour window to return that day in which during that hour they go present their test to security, then take ANOTHER PCR test at the school before going to their dorm where they will get a special wristband they have to wear for three days (he thinks for those 3 days they are going to have to stay in their dorms and have remote classes but he's not sure, I think the wristband means they DON'T have to do that because they turned in a recent negative test).
That really makes no sense, stop testing so you can't react to increase in infections?

Try this. You can buy food, as long as you snort cocaine first. If you don't snort cocaine, you won't be allowed to buy food. Sounds fair, right?
The solution is what we have been saying. Move on. Covid, just like the flu and the common cold, will be here forever. Do what works for you and let others do what works for them.

What I'm curious about, they are pushing boosters like crazy right now for Omi. It's starting to look like the boosters aren't all that effective against it. What if Pfizer and/or Moderna magically get edited Omi-specific vaccines rolled out soon. Won't all these newly boostered folks be ineligible for at least 4-6 months because they just topped up on a dud?
The solution is, what it should've been for months: learn to live with covid. It's not going anywhere ... ever.
People are testing like they're insane - testing with zero symptoms and only testing because they've been in contact with someone who's tested positive. And in most cases that I know of personally, the positive person has ZERO symptoms. (This is particular to NYC.)
These are fully vaccinated people - some are even boosted.
It's lunacy. NYC is have a surge - it's a pandemic of the vaccinated and not sick.
But let's shut down businesses and cause financial hardship over literally NOTHING

Are you saying the vaccinated are infecting the unvaccinated or vice-versa? Since both groups routinely get and spread Covid at this point I guess it is both driving the surge in infections.
