It's to the point it's like a soft drug where they don't know they are high but it slowly effects them over time and when they aren't satisfied they jump to a new high to be enraged over and if your new trying to actually get a decent conversation they just call you names and never finish their sentences correctly, etc.

It feels almost like they are bots or shills but this is pretty much ALL forums. Is the problem that bad here? I've heard some horror stories in the past. It seems since 2019 or so it's gotten worse but it's been an ongoing trend since about 2011. It gives me a VERY bleak look about humanity and how fragile as species we really are.

What are op ed journalists? Is it like special ed? Anyways I've noticed that everything is all 'news links' now with just posts going 'Yeah!' and you make a question or statement about current events that isn't a link and they look at you like your an alien from Mars! This is the ONLY free forum allowed where there is no CCP arm.

As far as the ones here are concerned I'm pretty sure it's one or two people using a VPN and making bunches of burner accounts. Probably from 4chan or reddit, looking to spread that kind of troll based rage posting to this board, fully knowing they will be breaking the board rules and getting banned often. Probably similar on most other boards. They fail to realize or(more likely) just don't care that not everyone is looking for the 4chan experience, and when they are looking for that, they'll just go there instead of here.

You'll run in to the occasional CCP representatives here. I won't point out who they are but they are pretty obvious about it.

The term "keyboard warriors" comes to mind. I see them on here, on Facebook, etc. Essentially people who bank on the illusion of anonymity sitting behind a screen. They will type and say things they would never say to another human being face-to-face.

I don't participate in any forums except this one so I can't generalize outside of what I see here. But this simple fact is that it is a little out of human nature for someone to be brand new and his/her first post is to start a partisan thread. I think most people conclude that person must be a troll or starting a burner accounts etc. - it just isn't the way most people join a forum in good faith. It's been a long time since I joined but I started posting somewhat slowly, and only in the geographical interest forums. I eventually branched into other forums and eventually started a thread.

I don't assume everyone will be exactly like me, but when you see "1 post" and either just a link to a highly partisan sit4 and/or a six paragraph rant, it just seems like that person is not coming at the forum with the interest in truly engaging.

I'm not sure why this would give you "a VERY bleak look about humanity and how fragile as species we really are." I agree we've overall less civil than we were, but online behavior is not a 1:1 reflection of reality.

Exclamation Why are online forums always 'enraged' now like some kind of drug?

It's almost like they go from one angry high to another and it's just news links and stuff. No real thought or discussion. Community.wins is notorious and any alternative of Reddit is just a clone like going from California to Texas then taking your voting habits with you ruining Texas till you want to leave there!

Cmon guys if your going to do an alt to Reddit make it like City Data or something where different sections can be discussed instead of a chronic diarrhea of random news links that look like bots doing it and getting yelled at if you actually provide insight discussion that requires critical thought.

It's like forums no longer want growth compared to the 00 era.
