If omicron is nothing to worry about, why are hospitalizations and deaths going up quickly across the country?
I have to say, I don't see that here (nursing home). A few weeks ago, we had 2 positives on a Monday, that grew to 17 by Friday. They made us start wearing masks again, quarantined the positive residents, put a hold on group activities, but still let us see people in the gym.
Of the 21 or so total we ended up with, only one actually got a fever, or felt really bad. No one went to the hospital.
During those couple of weeks, the nurse managers were very strict with making sure everyone was following precautions (I got scolded for bringing a positive patient's cup out of the room to refill his water), but it's understandable. We already lost money because several rehab patients who were scheduled to come to us from the hospital, went to other facilities when they were told about the outbreak here. So everyone was on high alert to make sure we stamped it out ASAP.
I don't know if that's what OP considers "running around like chickens with their heads cut off", or not. We haven't had any outbreaks since then, activities are back, but we still have to wear the blue masks for now.
But it seems in this case, OP didn't read the article, if it was call outs due to Covid that was responsible for the cancelled flights.

When he proudly took credit for the vaccine and said he got the vaccine and boosters.
He sure isn't against them.
Trump is in the more high risk age range. At his age, he probably did want the vax/boosters. During the height of Covid, there were LTC facilities who would not allow the residents in their care to have in person visits from their family members. They all had to wear masks and were only allowed to leave the facilities for essential medical appointments. Heck, yeah, Trump wanted to get the vax fast tracked so that he could get those people out of isolation.
He's not telling parents to get the vax for their 5 year old.
It's going around schools and college campuses again and it's also going around work places now that workers have gone back to their physical buildings.
I'm sure we'll all survive it as we've done with every other cold and flu season.
Well, if you ran a nursing home no one wanted to come to because you had an outbreak, maybe you'd feel differently. Thousands of people died of Covid in nursing homes just in NJ, and people are still getting flack for it now, so can you really blame them? Any mention of NY or NJ during Covid here brings an instant "they (Cuomo and Murphy) killed old people!!!! from the same people who are now saying we're blowing it out of proportion. So they can't win regardless what they do.
The current covid variants are Omicron - and much MUCH weaker than Delta, yet the Covidians are freaking out in the hopes their cult will be revived and we all go back into lockdowns.
If you are susceptible, do what you think you need to for (so called) protection with face diapers and dangerous jabs.
For the rest of us, it's like a cold - get OVER it!
