What politician in their right mind would publicly attack the cultural traditions of African Americans?!

I'm not surprised that Marjorie Taylor-Greene insulted and belittled a black holiday. That's the kind of person she is. But this is beyond disgusting, even for her.

I hope some of the conservatives here on C-D will denounce this behavior from Greene.

"Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has denounced Kwanzaa as a “fake religion” just as millions of Black people start to celebrate the weeklong holiday.

The Georgia lawmaker berated the national College Republicans for “pandering and BS” after the GOP group tweeted a seemingly innocuous happy holiday message
."

An estimated six million African Americans celebrate Kwanzaa in the USA, and Donald Trump wished Americans a happy Kwanzaa while he was president.

Quote:
Kwanzaa is not a religion but rather a holiday festival created in 1966 as a celebration of African roots for Black people around the world.

Kwanzaa celebrates the Nguzo Saba, which are seven Swahili values. Those values emphasize the importance of unity and community.

Marjorie Taylor-Greene truly is a nasty woman.

{shrug} I just can't get worked up about Kwanzaa either way. If 6 million folks want to celebrate it, let'em go in peace.

Estimated 6 million?

I doubt the numbers are as high as they estimate.

oh, she's crazy, no doubt. Just as crazy as the other Twitterers who accosted the College Republicans for posting the tweet to begin with.

Maybe she meant to type something beyond "religion" (religious ceremony? religious holiday?), because it has nothing to do with Religion.

But it IS contrived. It doesn't originate in Africa. It's not widely celebrated in Africa. The 7 principles are great; their explanation not so much. The creator was 25 yrs old and a Black Power adherent, then the creator of a Black Nationalist group.

Congress[wo]man Greene needs to learn to pick her battles.

Totally useless to pick a fight here.

Kwanzaa gives people more positive vibes than negative. Let it go...

Meh whatever. Liberals can bash Christians and their holidays and values and it’s fine.
Conservatives should be allowed to beat up Kwanza if they want.
Tit-for-tat. It’s all good.

All religion us a private matter, but there is a clique in our society seeking to write the Religion of "Wokeness" into the law of the land. They are the biggest threat to true American pluralism since Adolf Hitler.

It's a celebration of traditions from countries where most of the celebrants have never lived and couldn't point out on a map. It's fake. No further discussion required Make up fake crap, expect to get called out on it.
