If it's not for me, it should not be projected on me. Calling it an "African-American cultural tradition" wrongly projects it onto all of us.

It is NOT a black American cultural tradition. It is not rooted in black American culture and has nothing to do with us.

A specific cult group of Kwanzaa practitioners believe in the holiday. It's only their tradition, not mine.

The demolibs would say it's racist and call on the top demolib political leadership in office to systematically ban/outlaw it as such, as they do with each and every thing they already don't like and wish to change about America. Like they've done with landmarks, statues, names on buildings, streets, the American Flag & the National Anthem, you name it, they've done it. Systematically changing America to be what they want it to be. Remove "your" stuff and replace it with "our" stuff.

The "seven principles of African Heritage" in Kwanzaa were lifted from the Communist Manifesto, not some ancient African scrolls or whatever Karenga claims. It's simple Marxist collectivism and authoritarianism with some "pan-African" wrapping.

It's pure made-up nonsense on par with Frank Costanza's "Festivus" (EDIT - saw TMSRetired's post after I wrote this, so credit to them for saying it first), except with a more violent history, like being borrowed by the SLA as their motto (think the Patty Hearst photo from 1974). And worse, it preaches collectivism and submission to authority, just with pretty words. That makes it insidious, destructive nonsense.

Karenga is a vile, sadistic human being and got a race huckster career provided by the FBI in their quest to divide and discredit any sort of black nationalism movements in the 1960s, using his United Slaves as outsourced mercenaries.

Before you make someone a hero, might want to read their origin story.
I don't think they care enough. They consider George Floyd a hero so why not this guy as well.

Just forget things like torture, crimes, prison time....

He created Kwanza so that Black people could have their own holiday and not celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah which are White peoples' holidays.

It sure seems like this is what it's all about.

Kwanzaa is the closest thing to a communist holiday to exist in America.

Well, there you are just wrong. I have never celebrated Juneteenth but it is part of the black American cultural tradition.

You are just mistaken in your attitude. No one is saddling you with Kwanzaa but like Hallowe'en it surely is right there. Accept the inevitable.

Wrong! Labor Day is a lot closer. That with May 1 is why Pope Leo came up with the feast day of 'St. Joseph the Worker'. You seem unfamiliar with the history of those celebrations.

You may have mistaken a sarcastic post. There surely already are several celebrations of white ethnic heritage in America from St. Patrick's Day, to Columbus Day through Pulaski Day to Von Steuben Day and more.

People are actually capable of separating the holiday from the man. I know, what a concept. He did terrible things, but that doesn't mean that people can't partake in holiday that doesn't have to do with any terrible things that he did, nor does it mean that they support what he did after creating the holiday.

We can go down this line of reasoning for a multitude of things. Why do people buy Ford motor cars, when the founder was a staunch supporter of the Nazi party and was an anti-semite? Why do we keep up with our current Christian traditions (some of which are based off of Saturnalia), when the empire that celebrated Saturnalia was responsible for mass slavery and genocide of many peoples.

This is a dumb line of reasoning that has been hashed out multiple times on this forum.

Made popular by our alcohol producers more than anything else, tacos still go well with beer.
All holidays are made up to sell beer and chocolate.
