Sounds like one "protestor" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) might be ready to go back to the Capitol and do it all over again. Well, after he gets out of jail at least.

Quote:
Edward Jacob Lang, a 25-year-old from upstate New York charged with assaulting a police officer with a bat, made his last-ditch, Trump-focused cry for help during a Wednesday evening interview with far-right personality Stew Peters.

“I am so disappointed in Trump for canceling his January 6th press conference,” Lang said during the call-in interview, where he noted that he was on the brink of crying as he urged Trump to step up and fight for the defendants, like himself, who have been charged for their roles in the riot nearly one year ago.
Quote:
“You better do a press conference, man,” he concluded, addressing the ex-president. “We are rotting in jail because we stood up for what you told us to stand up for!”
Accused Capitol Rioter Edward Jacob Lang Blasts Trump and Begs For His Help in Jailhouse Call

This man isn't exactly a modern day Einstein. Consider how he got caught last year.

A New York man has been arrested for his alleged role in the deadly US Capitol invasion — after posting an image of the mob to Instagram with the words “This is me” and a pointing emoji superimposed on it, according to authorities.

Edward Jacob Lang was busted Saturday at his home in Newburgh, according to the FBI and the Mid-Hudson News Network.

Previous thread where I said we need to wrap this up by pushing the plea deals through for any of the criminals and moving forward in an expeditious manner to trial on the few that are silly enough to roll the dice on their 40 year sentences if convicted of their crimes. Looks like you might have the first bite here on someone who wants to go to trial.

Lang is a good example to take to trial. Unlike some, the allegations are of a violent nature including assaulting a police officer with a baseball bat and kicking/stomping on police officer on the ground. The violent nature of his alleged crimes makes him a particular suitable subject to make an example of. He's repeatedly showed no interest in a settlement of any kind and in and through his attorneys prefers to remain in custody pending trial. He's now been in custody a year. It's time to play hardball and set the trial and not allow the defendant to continue stonewalling and putting it off.

At least they prosecuted these rioters. No friendly district attorney to just drop charges like we saw too much of in recent years riots.

Yup, overall they've done a good job prosecuting the cases especially in the department of being transparent. This does need to come to a close though. Within reason defendants should of course have adequate time to prepare for trial and the 30 day right to speedy trial is generally waived as that doesn't allow enough time for either side. But 365 days is excessive. It's a pretty cut and dry case that's not that complicated. Either Lang is the guy in the video swinging the baseball bat and stomping or he's not.

Set a trial date. Lang can drag heels on an appeal for another five years about how it wasn't possible to prepare for trial in less than seven years in his appeal.

Trump never told anyone to literally go and attack anything. This idiot probably thinks the Beastie Boys song "Fight for your right to party!" is a call to arms.

Oh. Gosh. Trump supporter is surprised that Trump threw him under the bus once he was no longer useful. Who could have possibly seen that coming?

He should be thankful he’s not facing a firing squad for what he did. And Trump wasn’t worth it.

Has Trump ever literally said anything? He doesn’t want to be liable for anything but everyone knows what he is really saying and doing.
