Don't get Joe talking about the moon... he'll start telling us he helped Buzz plant the first flag there!

Well the US is relying on SpaceX to get us anywhere now.

We'll just sit and watch on TV as China explores space.

So it looks like Joe Biden will get his wish, that man returns to the moon. There will be a woman on the crew.

Unfortunately, for the USA it will be a Chinese national.

There will probably be a BLM member there to beat her up.

Musk is a right bastard, but there's no denying that what he's done has delivered an incredibly overdue kick in the posterior to the old gang at NASA/Boeing/Rocketdyne/ULA/Lockheed etc. Putting some money on SpaceX, back when, was a pretty intelligent move by both GWB and Obama administrations.

If you're an up-and-coming rocket/spaceflight engineer, you can go to SpaceX and be worked like hell, but you'll be developing cutting-edge technology. Or you can go to Boeing and help the SLS team kludge up a rocket from the Shuttle parts bin, if you're lucky. Or if you want to play politics, NASA. Although the old career progression from NASA administrator to lobbyist to VP of golf at Lockheed isn't as well-established as it used to be.

Be all that as it may, China isn't as impressive as they look. They're still adding gradual improvements to Soviet designs - there hasn't been a SpaceX-like watershed event.

Are sure it wasn't Cornpop that Biden helped?

When I was young I had fantasies of antigravity technology and here we are in 2021 still using rockets and we dont even have a moon base yet....disappointing. If China can get us to the southern pole in the 2020's more power to them.

But only a "of color" in the United States if a close enough white ancestor once lived in Latin America
