That's my theory as well, but I'm sure there were still plenty of asymptomatic COVID positive people that got hit with Flu symptoms and confounded the two

Nope. Just a person with both at the same time.

Based on the science that seems rare but possible. not shocking during flu season someone would have the flu. Not shocking that in a global pandimic that someone would have COVID.

doesnt seem that odd that during both that someone might get both. Its rare because of how the body produces interferon when you get sick to begin with (which if memory serves, blocks other pathogens from sneeking in).

There is a Dr.Z video on this.
Eh, tell that to all the people with diabetes who their diabetes doesn't do anything to prevent them from catching COVID. But Doc, I have diabetes. I heard if you were sick you couldn't get mroe sick! ....

There are separate tests for the two diseases. During flu season docs test for both. It is done with one swab. The test can include RSV, too.

Back in 2020, for the longest time in our ER they tested for both. And they did find a few positives for both. Very rare positive flu test these days, but they do expect it to pick up.

Restrictions and distancing reduced the instances of seasonal influenza all over the world in 2020 and 2021.

Makes sense that as restrictions and distancing were lifted, seasonal flu would be back.

A Covid test does not pick up influenza and vice- versa.

You do understand diabetes isn't a virus, right? The post you're replying to said being infected with two viruses at one time is rare.
