I can assure you Alvin Bragg does not believe that not prosecuting crime makes the citizens safer. But saying it does makes nitwitted New York democrat voters believe they have made a good choice in electing him.

Look, the sad truth is, democrat voters have fallen for the same crap for generations, and almost every city where there is a Democrat Leadership, it has been turned into a hellhole.

Kimberly Klacik of Baltimore explained this during last election:

I wonder how many NYC residents who voted for Alvin Bragg, will continue to be fooled by their local media into voting for anyone who runs as a "democrat".

Aside from that, two examples of this new policy are:

• Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine

• Burglars who steal from residential storage areas, parts of homes that aren’t “accessible to a living area” and businesses located in mixed-use buildings will be prosecuted for a low-level class D felony that only covers break-ins instead of for more serious crimes. Those more serious crimes, class B and class C felonies, would be punishable by up to 25 and up to 15 years in prison respectively.

Try getting a variety of news sources, and then, also get original source material which contains the THE ACTUAL NEW POLICY

Thanks for the link. I just picked that paper at random. I don't trust any of the media left or right. With a few exceptions like reason.com.

There needs to be criminal justice reform in this country. Where I live in a red county and very red town. Crime is low overall. The town has the mug shots off all people processed through the city jail. The vast majority are drug related. And even the prospect of decades in prison for repeat offenders does not seem to deter them. Once someone gets one drug conviction. Good luck getting a job or renting a place to live. So stealing stuff or selling drugs are their only option in many cases. Even if they really want to change. And I think bail policies need to change without releasing dangerous people back on the streets or ending up with more fugitives.

I don't agree with most of what the NY DA wants to do. Criminals simply get a get out of jail free card. Now they can break into storage units and businesses and not face real prison time. But the DA will probably look good. If you reclassify all sorts of felonies as misdemeanors suddenly felonies in the state will drop, even if crime goes up.

Pointing a gun at someone IS a definition of "genuine risk of physical harm".

In Oklahoma its called assault with a dangerous weapon. I have a neighbor down the street from me, 86 years old. He had an argument with his neighbor next door and only showed them his handgun, he claims he did not point it at them or touch them. He got arrested and charged for that, a felony. But in NY you can rob people at gun point and its a misdemeanor.

You can't build back better until you tear down. Chaos, confusion, loss of civil liberties so big papa can take over and there's the great reset.

One drip at a time with the brainwashed just staring into space saying, 'There's nothing wrong with this....'

Well, we've done it before. The Left tried the same thing from roughly 1964 to 1980, with the same consequences, but we managed to get things back under control eventually.

This is a prime example of the mentality of the left and why America is facing it's demise..

Just as has happened in Cuba with papa Fidel Castro.
