Yes, we all know who's been spreading that lie.
The protests and riots were "unfolding" while he was still speaking at the rally. Show a picture of the stage he was standing on speaking to the rally goers being in his personal dining room.
Lies and evidence tampering, it's all that the "committee" has. Obviously, or they wouldn't do it.

The Democrats punishing 100x than BLM? Untrue and your reasoning is wrong too. The Jan 6th insurrection is much more serious than anything since 9/11 because it was an attack on our own country.
And how the **** do you call yourself a "patriot"? Patriot? Patriots do not crash the gates of our government buildings, do not carry Confederate traitor flags into that building, do not occupy offices of our Congress people, do not threaten death to any of those same people. Patriots do not make up alternate stories of this outrageous act as if it was just for the fun of it and they are so innocent, they were just there for the fun of it, they didn't do anything wrong. That is no patriot. There are a lot of other things that they could be but "patriot" is not one of them. Find a new name.
Because each side consists of so many extremists, the answer would be no civil war but rid ourselves of the extremists. We don't need the far out Progressives who just want to spend-spend-spend and to teach us a whole new English language with words that they have decided are appropriate for us to use.
And we do not need extremist right wing religious nuts trying to take away women's rights and go back to the 1950s. If that's part of someone's religion, ok, but they have no right to force it onto the rest of us. This is not 1950. We don't need right wingers so full of hate that they automatically vote no on anything Congress tries to pass. We need compromise.
Let's hope the next generation of politicians has more common sense than the people who are now in office, including Republicans and Democrats, each trying to push for as much as they can get. You can't have it ALL and you can't have it NOW. Compromise, wait, get together and talk to each other. This is a great country and with some brains and common sense, it can be put back together again.
Yup I think Republicans are much more law abiding. I think the BLM riots were 100x worse. We agree to disagree.
Apparently:
The next US civil war is already here – we just refuse to see it.
The United States has never faced an institutional crisis quite like the one it is facing now.
The legal system grows less legitimate by the day. Trust in government at all levels is in freefall, or, like Congress, with approval ratings hovering around 20%, cannot fall any lower. Right now, elected sheriffs openly promote resistance to federal authority. Right now, militias train and arm themselves in preparation for the fall of the Republic. Right now, doctrines of a radical, unachievable, messianic freedom spread across the internet, on talk radio, on cable television, in the malls.
I had to stop reading since the author made so many false assumptions.
It's true... we ARE in a political cold war. Civil war? no. An amicable divorce? maybe. If the constitution is the marriage contract then who wants to change it? Who is honoring the constitution? Who wishes it modified or abolished? If we (United States) had two separate counties who would keep the US constitution in it's current form and who would write a new one?
Lets review.
1) Free speech in danger
2) Politically compromised press
3) Attacks on the 2nd amendment
4) The supreme court packing
5) Banning the Electoral College
6) Increased lawlessness and riots
7) Border security
8) States rights regarding voting
9) Medical mandates
10) Ruling by executive fiat
That's not a very good example. The tensions between the French aristocracy and the French common folk 280 years ago were completely different from those in the United States today.
But you are right about one thing: awareness.
Our citizens have talked pro and con about the possibility of another civil war for quite some time. The reason why we are discussing it now here comes from that awareness.
To me, that awareness makes the sudden breakout of a civil war so remote as to be closer to impossiblity than to reality.
Won't happen. The liberal media can fear monger all they want with their exaggerations and flat-out lies, but I don't think the average person really cares that much to take up arms and go out and fight their neighbor. Yeah, there might be some hot spots like we saw when the left burned down cities in the summer of 2020 or when a few on the radical right attacked the Capitol, but for the most part people just want to put on their shoes and socks in the morning and go about their day.
Life is difficult enough worrying about inflation and high prices and feeding your family without having the chaos of having the citizens fighting among themselves. There is a huge political divide in this country, and even though the left and right fight like cats and dogs, I sincerely doubt it would ever get bad enough to have any kind of civil war.
What this country has lost is respect and civility. People don't respect each other anymore and civility is a thing of the past. What we do have to be wary of, IMO, is Big Tech getting in bed with the Federal Government and pushing an agenda based on power and control. Our government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people, and not controlled by Big Tech, a socialist agenda, or a dictatorship.

Also add to this the low moral of Police Officer's across the country. Smash and grab gangs going about their business unhindered. The Rittenhouse affair. The weaponization of the FBI, CIA, DOJ.
Granted it was written in a Canadian news outlet so one may assume it was written for a Canadian audience but given how long and detailed the sections describing the chaos that unfolded in Washington D.C. last year, it seems all the more certain the author intended the op-ed for an American audience.
Personally I hope we're not close, especially with 2026 looming in the horizon. Despite rhetoric from both sides, I cannot believe anything happening in this country is so unbearable as to cause one citizen to draw swords on another. What do others think?
I've found that the Globe and Mail tends to be a s**t disturber in a lot of the stuff it publishes so I take whatever they publish with a pinch of salt. I don't approve of their fear mongering tactics.
Although it's a Canadian news outlet I have absolutely no doubt the article you posted (I couldn't read it as it required subscription) was intended for an American audience as a warning to America. Just like this similar recent article from them can be considered a warning to Canada and the rest of America's allies and trade partners to be prepared to disconnect alliances with America and be ready to "intervene" with America if America gets too far out of line.
It's a rather mean-spirited and not very subtle fear mongering threat directed more at America (rather than Canada) to smarten up and get its act together or else it will have more trouble than just internal political problems and a civil war:

2026?
