Honestly, if you are not making a 100k household income then just skip having kids. Below 100k, all you do is increase household stress and force poor financial decisions, or sacrifice your retirement / current investing opportunities for kids.

Sure you can struggle and make it work as many have in the past but it just kills you on the back end. No one cares that you have little retirement or have not paid your house off at 65 because you had kids and it was hard.

Public schools, daycare cost, using all you 2 weeks of leave for sick kids, extra food , extra clothing expenses, on and on.

So...raising children takes the same level of devotion as raising pets?

A celibate talking about having kids, now that's an oxymoron...

It's best if the "progressives" of the world have pets instead of kids. We will have less progressives in the future.

I could care less what "Pope" Francis has to say. He's a fraud/UN Globalist.

Where did you get $100K? Most of the US is quite affordable with low housing costs. Big cities and coastal beach areas are high cost.

The whole no birth control doctrine has ravaged the third world countries that have been brainwashed with this cultish nonsense. People living in shanty towns need more contraception not more kids - insane in the membrane.

The word selfish just bothers me. But I’ve heard it before. From my own mother when I announced we decided not to have children. This, coming from a woman that should have chosen to do the same. Yes, I understand I would not be here now.

She never sent birthday cards or called the grandchildren she did have. The Pope of all people should know not everyone should have children.
