The whole no birth control doctrine has ravaged the third world countries that have been brainwashed with this cultish nonsense. People living in shanty towns need more contraception not more kids - insane in the membrane.
It’s a survival/instinct hard wired into us to have children to preserve the species and I’m sure the instinct takes over with desperate people.
I like to see large families. I do believe in God, and believe he made us special beings for a reason. And I do think he made us to go forth and be fruitful, including having multiple kids. .
When that was supposedly ordered, the population was....what?
I've also never had sex. The Pope would approve of me not having premarital sex.
Yes we know you're a virgin, congratulations on letting fairytales dictate your intimacy. For example, same sex marriage was legalized in 2015 and there was plenty of premarital sex before that.
Marriage is a social construct, nothing else. You don't need the governments permission to have a lifelong partner or to legislate your bedroom.
As someone in his 30s who lived through the Great Recession — I get why people aren’t just jumping into kids…at least the educated ones.
A lot of people are in their early 30s by the time they are done with school and settled into a career/location that feels like it’s going somewhere. Then many want to buy a house (expensive) and a new car (expensive) to sorta reward themselves. Some may want to travel a bit and just have a few carefree adult years too. 35-38ish — ages where a lot of folks see themselves having kids by can come and go fast at this point….not to mention navigating the modern dating world and finding someone you actually want to marry and have a family with (while minimizing the chance of losing a lot of what you’ve worked for….at least from a guy’s perspective).
For some, by age 35 or so…having a pet, focusing on paying off a home/student loans, enjoying life with or without marriage and maybe getting out of the rat race by our 50s starts to sound more appealing than taking on the responsibility of children to go along with everything else.
