Canada was already at 73.1% in 2020.

My dad chose cremation recently and I will be doing the same when my time comes. I'd rather return to nature quickly, as opposed to rotting away for a long long time.

The bolded.

My family has a large plot in a great location at one of the most iconic cemeteries in the country (we've had the plot for over 150 years).

So there is plenty of room for everyone to be buried, but everyone who has died during my lifetime (I'm a second half of the boom boomer) has been cremated and has a traditional headstone.

Has anybody heard of the new way to dispose of the body? I read somewhere a couple years ago about a method that involves water dripping. Then not much is left. But IDK where it goes.

Sounds great. But I don't want to dump anything but ashes in the ocean. Might make for fish food, but I do't want to make a mess.

This explains a lot, and I do believe most of this trend is tied to how expensive funerals have become.

Turns out that I am somehow related to Methuselah, so I won't need to worry about this for a few more centuries.
