He must have learned that from the American conservatives who often opine that people on welfare spend their money on cigarettes, expensive sneakers, and cell phones.
And they’re right. They could certainly save money and use it to try to better themselves with getting educated to provide a better life for themselves versus having taxpayers be responsible for their free stuff.
Are you not reading the thread? Post #139. You do know where Austin is, don't you? To my knowledge, HEB is the largest chain in the state.
I am in the Austin area. HEB is huge. Im guessing a lot of their produce comes from Mexico.. They do not have to go far .. Now , getting things up to NY or other populated metros requires way more logistics. A chain can break down real quick.
You cant just go to your local store and see shelves full and say well theres no problem here... These problems are regional.

So, you're already saying "regional" which is a backtrack from the other hyperbolic posters calling it "national". Now if you'll correct your hyperbolic title and stop saying "empty grocery stores" which I'm sure you know is hogwash, we'll be on to something
Again, post #139 sums your thread up nicely. Please stop sensationalizing as it serves no purpose and merely makes you lose credibility.
Yep, Austin area for me. I suspect it's pretty much the same in most areas of the country and that the OP would have a difficult time substantiating his hyperbolic claim of "empty grocery stores"
I can tell you that it's getting worse. I do shops for people, and a lot of times, the stores just don't have the items. I would say about...20 - 30% of their list. And you have no idea how many times I've found 'the last one' of whatever it is that was on their list.
I've grown accustomed to now not just searching where the product is labeled to be, but in and around the entire area of where the product is supposed to be. I have climbed shelves, practically crawled inside freezers, and have been down on the floor looking through the lower shelves. This is usually how I find 'the last one' of whatever it was on their list.
Where I live, in NC right now, we've been okay for most of this year, but in the last 3-4 months, it has been getting worse. Every single time I walk into the store, there are glaringly empty spaces where there was once always full shelves.
Shipments to refill don't seem to happen as often, as the shelves continue to be empty of whatever product I typically buy.
Last night, I went to the store to get some meat for my pets. The entire chicken section was a complete wreck. There were hardly any packages of chicken left. I have walked into that store a half an hour before they close, (11pm), and have never seen the meat department that depleted.
Some days, even though we've had no snow or serious storms, (ie: hurricanes), it looks as if everyone is preparing for such a thing, despite no forecast for it. I work a lot, so I miss a lot, but sometimes I ask the checkers if there's something I'm missing. Was something announced? Are we getting a crazy snowstorm or something? Is something happening? Why are these shelves looking like shelves look when people know a hurricane is coming (as I've witnessed when I lived in FL)?
There is definitely a supply problem. It's getting worse each month. Even the pet store is having a really hard time keeping their shelves full - and they never had that issue in the past. I'm talking a major chain, not some small mom and pop store.
Whether you see it or not, there IS a problem, and it IS getting worse.
Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist for many people in this country.

Whether you see it or not, there IS a problem, and it IS getting worse. As stated, post #139 sums up things perfectly (not sure how many times I need to say that).
Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist for many people in this country.
Again, read the thread and the hyperbolic posts and stop implying that I haven't acknowledge that there are some issues. But this hogwash about "empty grocery stores" and it being "national" as opposed to regional is what I have the issue with. The OP is sensationalizing. Pure and simple.

this!!!!!!!
Any regular shopper knows that when LaCroix is buy one get one free - the shelves empty out.
Same with Gatorade, Powerade.
Also -- weather is everything. One bad day on the roads and a whole community may not get their shipment of Mission flour tortillas.
AND - as a regi;ar shopper, I have regularly had stores not carry something I was looking for. That's why I often visit two or three different chains in a day.
Not sure where you lived in the USSR but the people I met that escaped it said there were a lot of bare shelves. Same thing happening in Venezuela. YAY SOCIALISM!

Who cant deny that theres NATIONAL shortages on other things... ALL OVER. Ok some grocery stores may be more stocked than others, however shortages dont only pertain to food.
Theres plenty of stores here by me that are empty. I went to target last week and a lot of food items were missing off shelves.
Then again, it all depends on the logistics of the companies that are selling the goods. A breakdown at a single distribution center can effect a large area.
It's not Biden's fault all you anti-vaxxers insist on spreading the virus around.
