You're not paying attention, then. Other posters have outlined scenarios in which weather conditions - most often winter precipitation and hurricanes - prompt a run on grocery stores for a variety of items.

Same where I live. Snow in the forecast drives everyone to the store, where they stock up on bread, milk, eggs (apres-shoveling French toast parties?), toilet paper (put the milk and eggs in the fridge, please!), and snacks. The shelves empty out in a few hours, and aren't restocked until a few days after the storm subsides, depending on how screwed up the roads are.
The threat of snow does that where you are? all anyone does here, when there is the threat of a blizzard, is maybe buy windshield wipers, snow shovels and salt. I've never seen people here horde because of a snow warning.

You're trying to slide out from under your claim that Goya products are going to increase 60%.

people who actually deal with cold and snow on a regular basis in the winter don't have the ridiculous panic response you often see in other areas.

My "food shopping" day is now my "scavenger hunt" day as I go from store to store to get what's on my list.
The cats are picky and switching food will get them sick.

im not trying to slide away from anything... I am under the impression that companies pass their costs to consumers when things rise.. I guess I could be wrong.

Sometimes when LaCroix is buy one get one free -- the shelves are practically empty if not completely empty -- lol.

I have been shopping for our family for too many years....and occasionally over the years there have been things missing that I'm looking for. This happened before the pandemic and will happen after.

The worst 'shortage' was in spring of 2020 when people started stocking up on toilet paper and cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer.

Since then -- sure sometimes I go and the meat or poultry on sale is cleared but that happened pre-pandemic.
I already pointed out in this thread example of a few items being mising here or there.

The point I'm making is the hyperbolic jump to nationwide mass bare shelves type hyperbole.

The examples you are providing are widely known and are NOT what the OP and others are portraying.

Young kids sure seem to love Socialism and when we get a sniff of what it's really like, all hell breaks loose? Man oh man, that's some NIMBY stuff right there for you!!!

"Yup, I love my socialism...as long as it doesn't affect me because I'm special and deserve a medal" mentality rears it's ugly head already.

Your in Wisconsin, snow is an everyday thing there. Down here in Tennessee a forecast of snow is very similar to the coming of the apocalypse. We have no snow removal equipment and no one is used to it. Yes people rush the stores here. The reaction to snow depends on ones geography. Live in Michigan? No big deal....it’s just a foot of snow right? Live in South Carolina? It will coat the grass? Better stock up in case we are snowed in.

Last week here in Tennessee we got an inch where I live. Everything closed down, schools were out 2 days. I bet that doesn’t happen in Wisconsin LOL. Unfortunately they are now talking about another southern snow storm.

We've had storms dump a foot of snow on us, and it all gets plowed out and back to normal in a couple days. The main roads around the cities, and buss routes, grocery stores, gas stations, etc... stay plowed all the time. A lot of people will contract with a self employed person who plows their alley ways and parking lots. In rural areas they break out their snowmobiles.

Give it up. CNN literally had "experts" on their show advocating to avoid stressing about finding a turkey, by skipping it all together. They offered "tips" on replacements. One of them flat out said to do spaghetti and meatballs. And one "expert" even went as far to say it'll help us learn our lesson when it comes to Thanksgiving, meaning we should stop making the turkey the "center of the meal."

Also, good for you that you can find food at your grocery stores. Where I live, it's been hell. I haven't bought chicken in almost 3 weeks. Either it's too expensive, or the stores are cleaned out. I know you're desperately trying to ignore this by pathetically saying "IT'S FOX NEWS!", but it's not.

Here's a link from one of my state's most trusted local news stations. Tell me again how there's not a shortage:
