Y'all can keep playing that game if you want, but the rules were just eliminated.

The "0%" receiver is now a thing. Can't outlaw blocks of aluminum, nor can you put the genie back in the bottle. It's over. Accept it.

I'm a gun guy. I like guns. I own guns. I shoot them. But I don't have a clue what that video is saying. Can you elaborate?

LOL sorry. If you're not familiar with "80%" receivers and what are referred to as ghost guns, then it won't make much sense.

Short version is that people have been building guns at home since before the country was founded, and politicians just discovered this fact. They can't control home-built weapons, so naturally, they want them banned.

There are receivers on the market (typically AR-15 receivers) that aren't milled out completely, so they're not firearms under the law. You can buy one and complete the job with some skill and tools, ending up with a finished lower receiver that's not serialized. Its existence is unknown outside of whoever you decide to tell about it.

Some states have outlawed these "80%" paperweights, and the ATF has been trying to figure out a way to do it administratively (without legislation) for years.

This announcement nullifies those efforts. One can now start with a solid block of aluminum stock and end up with a functioning firearm.

Practically speaking, this signals the end of enforceable gun bans.

more info on their website
"The Ghost Gunner 3 Zero Percent kit allows you to mill a complete, mil-spec and unregistered AR-15 receiver from an unformed block of aluminum - from 0%. Just like our 80% kits, this is performed automatically using our Ghost Gunner 3 CNC mill, meaning that you can make a AR-00 today, no machining experience necessary, in the privacy of your own home."

So - all you have to do is buy their "Ghost Gunner 3" CNC machine (just $2500, $500 deposit required) and you're all set!

You're familiar with CNC yes?.

This appears to be a small and hopefully affordable automated milling machine that is designed to do nothing but make lower receivers starting with a solid block of aluminum.

Apparently the manufacturers thought that if they made the video weird enough, it would confuse the easily befuddled as to what's actually being done here.

Yes...I'm aware of the scaremongers freaking out about ghost guns, and the debate over 3d printing lowers, etc. One could theoretically 3d print the lower part of a glock -- they just need to get the few metal parts.

The video wasn't clear about HOW that is nullified.

Thanks for clarifying that. My guess is that politicians will do their best to ban that.

It worked!

Yes, I'm aware of the idea, but just didn't have a clue that was what that was talking about.

A fully functional 9mm submachine gun can be made from hardware store parts, (no metal lathe or milling machine required).

A man by the name of P.A. Luty published a how to book, the plans are all over the internet today. It is mainly various sizes of metal tubing.

Another interesting fact, its actually MUCH easier to build a full automatic (versus semi auto)!

No thanks... I'll just go the legal route and give some of my favorite American gun manufacturers my business if I want to buy another one.

Why would anyone be concerned about an unregistered or serial numberless firearm anyway? The only concern with home build guns is safety. A friend of mine, a machinist, once built a handgun. In that country it was illegal (because it was unlicensed and uncertified) but anyway, he had this thing and showed it to me. It was capable of being fired with the breach unlocked! He was a little shocked when I pointed that out to him.

So yeah, that's my only concern.
