You can always find an exception. The poster you quoted was not far off base and you know it.
My son-in-laws first degree was an art major and philosophy minor. Useless degrees, right? His Master degree was in ecology, and he now heads the Parks department planning division for my jurisdiction.
His "useless" degree allowed him to get into a Masters program, one that launched a successful career, allowing my daughter, who is a teacher, to stay at home until all three kids were in grade one.
You need to reconsider how useless some of these degrees are. Many people are not sure what they want to do for a career, and university allows them to explore their passions. Things change. My daughter's first degree was in environmental science, which is a dime a dozen degree, as at the time it was a common thing kids out of high school went into. She took her second degree in teaching, and now teaches science to students.
Neither one had a "wasted degree". But they certainly broadened their knowledge and horizons. They are not as insular as many on this forum are.
You mean like an ex GF of mine who got an art degree (as in painting), ended up teaching art in a public school for years, now operates a successful art museum (a for profit one, no tax dollars needed). Useless degree though, right?
You do not need an "art" degree to run an art museum. The CEO of Delta Airlines doesn't have a pilots license.
Well I guess girls won't be pushed to go to college anymore "to find a college man/husband."
Don't laugh. When I was in college, the parents of poor girls in the area could afford one semester of college in hope of landing a senior engineering man soon to graduate. You never saw them after Christmas break.

I remember a few months ago seeing a thread on CD called “The War on Women.” I started a response and half way through it, I deleted it…not even worth my time to respond.
Look at these numbers. Makes it very difficult to listen to any whine about how bad women have it these days. Look at tv advertising these days. Notice anything missing? How about those dreaded white males yet white women still get center stage.
Go to engineering or computer science buildings on campus and see how many women are in there.
Yeah, there are more women in college than men, but the majority of women end up with a degree in Sociology or Basketweaving
This is simply untrue, and the basketweaving comment is misogynistic.
