When I woke up this morning, the temperature outside was two degrees below zero here in upstate New York. It’s much the same over most of the northeast, as an arctic air mass settles in over the region. A quick check with the National Weather Service indicates that it was four degrees in Boston at the time of this writing. Students in Boston’s public schools had better cross their fingers and hope that it warms up significantly before they return to class on Tuesday, or they’re going to be in for a very uncomfortable day of learning. (At least for those whose schools are actually open for in-person learning, that is.) The reason is that all of the public schools in Boston are required by a school board mandate to leave the windows in the classrooms cracked open. In January. Parents are already complaining that they’re having to bundle their kids up in multiple layers of clothing just to get them through the day. The COVID madness is strong with this city, folks. (National Review)
If true, what's the bid deal with having windows open at 4 inches. Nothing wrong with fresh air and certainly not child abuse or freezing. How many generations have walked through snowstorms to get to school.

Oh yes, my grandfather spun tales of how he had to walk 6 miles each way in 3-foot deep snow.
Of course, when he got to school they didn't keep the windows open.
It seems that common sense left through one of those open windows.
I have all the right side of the situation, the right side, open schools, no mask requirements, no vaccine requirements. But I sort of like this opening the windows idea. So I am guessing the idea is fresh outside air reduces the chance of viruses being shared. Might not be a bad idea, not just for covid, forever
If anything it is going to make these soft kids stronger, but then again look at their fathers....maybe there is no hope for them.
There are protests nationwide from students who want in person learning shutdown to prevent the spread of covid,

Seems like you have never lived in a place where it gets that cold. A room can get very cold with several windows open, even with the heat blasting.
So the open windows, which are meant to keep fresh air circulating, doesn't work in the far north in winter.

I thought republicans were about toughening up their kids and not coddling them.

Do you have any idea what it’s like to leave a window open when it’s 4 degrees outside? And to endure that for hours at a time? The idea is insane.

I guess you never went to schools when they lost heat in the winter. It was absolutely cold, but we survived.
Child abuse, LOCK THEM UP! If a parent left their kid in a room with a window cracked to the 4 degree air, DFACS would sweep in, send the child to an abusive home, the police would shoot the dog, strangle grandma, and ship the parents off to Alcatraz in a windowless, black, unmarked airplane flown by cia agents. I'm only slightly exaggerating that last sentence.

In what part of the country were you when the heat went off? What were the outside temps at the time?
How many days was the heat off? Certainly not a cold classroom every day for the next 3 months.
