This is a tax fraud case. If Trump tells bankers his properties are worth $10 million, but tells the tax man they're only worth $2 million, that is tax fraud. The bankers don't have access to his tax documents.

It's the bank's underwriting department's job to do its due diligence regardless of what the client is telling them. If they choose to ignore that information it's negligence on their part.
