It's highly unlikely that the military would be used against American civilians. They'd have to obliterate every single town, village, city and neighborhood. If so the military would have to destroy their own friends, family and neighborhoods. There would be absolutely nothing left for them to come back to. If the civilian population were destroyed who'd supply the military with supplies? There'd be nobody left to work the factories, farm the fields and deliver the supplies. All commerce would come to a grinding halt.

About the only way they could possibly do it would be to go on house to house searches where they would be met with overwhelming and fierce resistance. With a continental land mass of 3,800,000 square miles they just don't have the manpower to search every home throughout the United States. Not too mention all of the remote areas that hardly anyone knows even exist. Indeed there are tens of thousands of people who live in these places throughout the United States. The armed civilian population are scattered all over the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. It would be impossible for the military to declare and enforce Martial Law throughout the entire United States.

The armed civilian population at around 100 million or so would vastly outnumber government forces. According to Wikipedia, there are 1,477,896 active and 1,458,500 reserve personal in the US Armed Forces. This includes Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. I'd be willing to bet that at least 75% of those who serve in the military are strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment and Constitutional law same for state and local law enforcement personnel. My guess is that the majority of service members would disobey orders, and in all probability would use their weapons against those that ordered them to do so. It wouldn't surprise me if they joined forces with the civilian population that takes up arms in the fight against a tyrannical form of government. The first to go would be the politicians that gave the orders.

It seems a great many of the political forum posts are about hypothetical and imaginary issues, enemies, threats, etc. As long as they don't talk politics I don't care what politics my neighbors have. I know some are liberal and some are Trumpers. It has zero effect on me, as I'm sure it does on 99.9999% of people in the real world. The fact is that most of these posters will never take any actions in the real world, they are just expressing opinions. Out of 70 million people who voted for Trump, less than a couple of thousand participated in the Jan6 demonstration and riot.

However in this yet another "what happens if there is civil war" thread, everybody better hope it never happens and work to prevent it, and here is my view why

The left envision the right as extremists like in the handmaid's tale, the right envision Marxists as extremists, neither are good for the country.

Right now the reality is Marxists have gained a lot of control in government and education and we are currently living in results we see it on the news and discuss it everyday here.

What happens one day when 60% say it's time to abandon the constitution and replace it with a socialist democracy with a new constitution or none at all? It is already heading that way here is proof and all the reasons they give are current left talking points about diversity and equity and so on.

So what happens one day if the left have indoctrinated enough that 55 % 60% say abandon the constitution? The left will say it is democracy and the will of the people but do you think the other 50% or 40% who want to keep the current constitution are going to accept that? NO they won't. The left will call them fascists for not going along with democracy and the majority vote.

The map I posted above blue vs red, there are no defined borders anymore mostly, it is more high density urban areas vs everyone else and even in suburban and urban ares not everybody is blue. But say the left have control of the federal government and have enough loyal military what are they going to do when there i revolt by people and including several states?What are the blue left going to do in cities surrounded by red say Texas?

Pick a leftist city, say Chicago or Seattle. How many people in those cities know how to grow food or hunt? None. How many rely on survival because a supply chain that stocks the grocery stores and medical supplies everyday? All of them. How many have two weeks supplies if the supply chain is cut? Not many.

Look at a road map of the cities, all it would take is a blockade of roads and railway and within two weeks the city would turn medieval. Trucking supplies 70% of American cities, railway 15% with a small percentage from air and sea if they have ports.

Two weeks of no supplies of fuel, food and medical supplies and those cities would turn into death camps. Many cops and doctors and EMT wold flee being more concerned about themselves, 911 would go unanswered and basic life saving medicine would become scare. The people who were already predators would come out even more, and those who were civilized would either have to become a predator themselves or die and watch their family die. What is the leftist mayor and governor to do then? All without even entering the city in combat fighting from the opposition to the leftists. And that is all without even disrupting thee water supply and electrical grid.

That is not to say the red areas wouldn't suffer they would also to a extent from supply chains disrupted besides from any engagements from socialist authorities but they would fair better .

But what about the red if they won? Would they bring back the way it use to be with fair free constitution with democrats, republicans and so on living together? There would then be the danger of over correction and making a fascist right wing government a reality. Not all on the right or right of center agree on everything, some really would want to install a bonified Christian nation. There is no guarantee that a win by the red would bring back a government made by the founders. Then many who fought against the left, would wind up fighting against the far right.

So despite difference there needs to be a coming together to bring back a core principle for all to unite with, as per our founding government, otherwise the future might be bleak.

Not mention what all this would do on the international stage.
