Been here since 2009. Show me where the Republican Party has ever tried to end WIC or Food Stamps (SNAP)

Maybe you are confused? Republicans have always advocated to improve our economy so that people can afford to care for themselves, resulting in fewer people being forced to rely of SNAP or WIC to get by.

How Did The Democrats Become The Party Of The Rich? - January 2014

If you brought back either of the Roosevelts—Teddy or Franklin—from the grave, the most astonishing thing they would find is that the “malefactors of great wealth” have become the benefactors of today’s liberalism, and Democrats have become the party of the rich. In the economic crisis of the 1930s, the rich hated FDR.

Most of today’s rich love Barack Obama—so much so that Washington D.C. area airports ran out of space to handle all of the private jets flying in the well-heeled for both of his inaugurals. Forget the “limousine liberals” of the 1960s and 1970s, sending their own kids to private schools while advocating forced busing for everyone else; behold today’s burgeoning class of “Gulfstream liberals,” who jet about the globe while fretting about global warming.

IRS Data Shows Democrats Are Now The Party Of The Rich - April 2021

Democrats are the party of the wealthy, IRS data shows, a flip from decades ago when it was the party of the poor and middle class.

Democrats represented 65% of taxpayers with a household income of $500,000 or more in 2020, according to IRS data, while 74% of taxpayers in Republican districts have household incomes of less than $100,000.

In 1993, the dynamic was reversed, with the typical Republican congressional district showing it was 14% wealthier than its Democratic counterpart. In 2020, data shows those Republican districts were now 13% poorer.
Charles maury talks about this in his book the state of white America called coming apart. The book is really good which shows why whites especially affluent whites abandoned working class whites. I also know that mainline white protestants have a strong preference for blacks dating back sine the days of the quacker churches. Mainline white protestants were the ones who pushed to end slavery, very supportive for civil rights movements, and were big-time white allies during the BLM George Floyd movement after his death. This is one segment of the population who have a disdain for poor whites historically. In matter of fact disdain for poor entirely. Btw I'm a person of color.

Yes his statement on immigration is a hybrid of the worst of bootstraps Reaganism and social liberalism. You could also say neoliberal. Maher isn't really super woke but in many ways he is actually worse.

True, we need to replace woke Reaganomics with a hybrid of leftwing socialism and rightwing politics on social issues and race.

You misunderstand liberal secularism. We are not "anti religious." We simply believe religious doctrine has not place in government. The only way to allow all religions to co-exist on US soil peacefully is through a secular framework. Otherwise you end up with holy wars like Northern Ireland, Israel-Palestine, China-Xinjaing and so on.

The evangelicals are singled out by the left because they are the only large religious group openly and aggressively pursuing an agenda of using government law and policy to push their values and beliefs on the rest of us.

As much a I dislike Bill Maher, at least he'll have a conversation with anybody. I don't watch his show really but I've seen snippets of him talking to people from both the far-right and far-left. He may not agree, but he'll let people make their points and then he'll respond.

I've also seen that Maher has said several times that the "woke" movement among younger dems is toxic and bad for the democratic party, which I agree with.

Who is Maher attributing this quote to? The illegal aliens, or the people who do not like the way our government allows illegal immigration?

We have seen more and more Democrats who are publicly showing disdain and borderline hatred for poor white people, and non-college educated people; just a disdain for lower income people altogether. These are the same people who think they are not racist, while claiming blacks and Latinos are just not smart enough, informed enough.

To put it simply upper class white Democrats think that as a race, darker skinned people are intrinsically unable to take care of themselves or even find out how to get to the DMV and get a photo ID, because of their skin color. To me, these people are bigots, and racists, and yet these people think they are the good people.

More and more, the snobbish white top 5% income earners and wealthy, are becoming the Democrats. They are so well off, that there is not much that government can do to negatively impact their lives. so they are happy to let governemnt do what it likes, since they will always have the money and influence to get by. Like that quote from Obama, where he says the rest of us might fall on hard times and find making ends meet to be difficult, but he, Michelle and his daughters will be well off financially, with no worries about their futures.
