No the president should nominate whom he wants, and the Senate should provide "advice and consent"

That A&C should look like whatever the majority party in power in the senate wants it to look like.

Period.

If we have reached a point where stupid reigns and a president has been elected that cant keep his own crap out of his pants, and a senate that doesnt have a clue what "constitution" means, then we are left to deal with the consequences.

It's the presidents decision, whoever the president may be. Same as a president, whoever the president may be, saying they were going to nominate someone based solely on that person's opinion on, for example, abortion.

I was somewhat wrong on this - the Judiciary committee is actually split 50-50, though it is Dick Durban who runs it.

Trump did the exact same thing and you said nothing.

Presidents have handpicked Supreme Court judges forever for all kinds of reasons -- Biden does it -- and he's bad.

Whether your purposely choose a Catholic judge or a female judge or a Republican judge or a white male judge......it's all been happening for years.

BUT now you all have a problem with it.

Every President is given a list by his party with potential candidates and on that list they are all presumed to be as qualified as the next or they wouldn't,, couldn't make the list. The criteria for actually choosing someone will always come down to race, gender, religious affiliation, political affiliation, etc.

That's why Biden will go for a safe pick based on race and sex. Not so much on experience and justice.

Trump did the same thing. He chose based on religion, gender, political affiliation -- all to be safe.
