Bottom line is that guy was advancing on cops with a deadly weapon. Deadly force is allowed to defend oneself or others against force that is reasonably likely to result in death or serious bodily injury. Neither police officers nor anyone else should have to get sliced with a box cutter or any other sharp object (one rightly placed hit to the throat or some artery and it could be game over) because they fear using their firearms to defend themselves.

lol uh sure. At least eight cops of the twenty or so present fired at him, and did so with innocent bystanders in the area. If you watch the video they had plenty of time to taze him. Im embarrassed for these cowards who will likely suffer no consequence because “they followed procedure”
How many cops does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Having gotten that question out of the way, the guy obviously wanted to die. He was committing suicide. Only a moron would advance on three dozen officers with M4s pointed at his chest. Looked like friggin' Battle the Bulge there.

Yep. Not sure why Mr. DeForrest can't grasp basic logic. He must live in a world of unicorns and rainbows.
It'd be worse if only one of them fired, wouldn't it?
One way of looking at that, is of the 11 or 12 cops there, the vast majority decided simultaneously, that the guy was a lethal threat at that very moment. That's not a bad instant peer review.
The head-scratcher is the guy who fired a second or two later. He may need more fast-response training.
Serious question. Does the police department in question even carry tazers? I ask because many departments stopped issuing tazers to their officers due to liberal whining.
