The constitution doesn't declare that the Capital has to be in DC.

The KC football team would have to change its' name. There is already precedence.

Actually the capital should be broken up. There's no reason the president, congress, and the headquarters of all the agencies need to be in the same place.

Congresscritters and senators should stay in their states/districts, and meet virtually. This would make them more available to their constituents. The agencies should be distributed to separate cities around the country.

The president could stay in DC, or there could be a few executive offices/residences scattered around the country.

I didn’t say that … but it does spell out other requirements, size, independence, etc.

Why Kansas City, MO should be the nation's capital...

I agree, but only if we don't tell the fools in congress in Washington that we've moved the Capitol. Just leave them there thinking they're still in charge and start a new government.

KC would fit right in. Lived close to it, worked in the city for about 20 years. Inner city is a cesspool just like St. Louis and Chicago. A few more scumbags might not even be noticed. All the people with money live in Johnson County, Ks.

The Constitution makes that argument.

But technically you could headquarter the various departments whereever you want and have congress meet in a different city every 3 or 4 months.

Barely, sort of, as long as you don’t leave certain sections of the city limits.

I used to think KC would be a good capital, but I’d hate to see my favorite city ruined like that.

Sounds like the South African/Dutch/Bolivian model.

What about the embassies?
