Thanks for the feel good story of the day. But I would never encourage a women to do that, especially an older women who is basically defenseless against the criminal element of society. If this happened in LA, Chicago or NYC, she would have probably been attacked. This is one reason even security guards usually let these people leave without stopping them.

Yeah, I don’t blame the spunky woman at all, but it could have had a dangerous outcome for her. I wouldn’t recommend anyone doing that though. The guy filming could turn it over to the police.

Worse yet, if she tried this in a far left city like San Fransisco or NYC, she would have probably been arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for interfering with this man's criminal activity

I thought this was staged since the thief didn’t put up much of a fight. It does seem real. She is 73. A former bank teller who got robbed a couple of times.

It probably was staged, its hard to tell with videos that go viral today, I doubt any of them are real, plus like another poster said above, his face was blurred out, that is a good sign this was staged.

Shoplifters here are definitely different then in Canada. An old lady starts messing around with shoplifters here and she's liable to get jacked up. I see a whole lot of old lady's getting vandalized if they start doing that here.

As soon as old ladies in the US start getting busted in the chops for trying to take down shoplifters, we'll have something on the internet to do the comparison. Give it time Grasshopper. Just give it some time.

Years ago when phones were still attached to the wall a young guy broke into a house with 3 older women and one was in a wheelchair. They tangled him up with the phone cord and were beating him with the phone. He was screaming for the police to help him when the women called. It was so funny I never forgot it.
