Not just gross but I find these people repulsive.. there are both men and women that molest young people and they tend to be teachers. I just don't understand these people.
To make a slanderous statement like this one you must have sources to support your claim, right?
I think the guy is off his rocker, but he teaches ethics and philosophy and is a lawyer. I suspect that he enjoys shocking students with contrary views and opinions. He has been teaching in the SUNY system for 20+ years and this is the first time his peculiar (and unlawful) ideas have come to light? I assume he is tenured and lives in that weird space between his ears. That's where a lot of strange ideas bubble up in people when they lose touch with reality.

Surely people did not think the 'sexual revolution' was just going to stop when gay marriage or interracial marriage was legalized, tolerated and then accepted?!
There will always be those trying to push the envelope, (thats all this is), its likely to be the next big test of morality when it comes to sex...
Decades ago, majority of people would be saying the same negative things said in this thread, (but about hearing of an interracial couple, or a gay couple especially!), they would be called 'sick perverts' lock them up for life', etc, etc...but times are different now, gay people marrying is almost celebrated today!
(and this only took a couple decades to go from 'disgusting' to acceptable). our world is going down the toilet in terms of morality...why should we be shocked hearing this kind of news then? It doesnt shock me at all, I see this desensitization going on in many different ways, its exactly how gay people and interracial people overcame what they did, (same play book, just a different preference). Why would an immoral world suddenly grow morality in regards to one topic?

The victims of this will have to deal with this in many capacities throughout their entire lives. This professor lacks the basic understanding to comprehend this. CHILDREN CANNOT CONSENT!!!! Period! Ever! They lack the mental capacity and Understanding to do. So his statement that “with a willing child” is nonsense!

Who decides and what criteria is used. We're coming up on vaccinating little kids. Who decides?
If that was the point he should not have used criminal behavior to illustrate it. I'm having a hard time reconciling anybody sanctioning pedophilia in a college classroom
Maybe he's trying to prove by contradiction. If the only reason that sex with a child is "wrong", is that it is illegal or that society doesn't allow it, then one can argue, well in some cultures the age of consent is lower, etc. So to conclude it is wrong on a much more intrinsic level you first define "wrong" then you reason it out. Philosophy is often not casual reading. But I don't know what he did in this work so alternatively he could just be off his rockers!
It's good to see predators in the hot seat. Sunlight is a great disinfectant. The brighter the spotlight, the better. I'd like to see them all locked up.
