Rachel Maddow is off her MSNBC show, and won’t be back for a while
“Change is good,” Maddow said. “Change is absolutely terrifying, but in this case it’s good.”
Rachel Maddow will be taking a hiatus from her MSNBC show to work on a few projects.

You won’t see Rachel Maddow on MSNBC anytime soon.
Maddow, the popular cable new host who has been the face of MSNBC’s primetime opinion coverage since 2008, is taking a lengthy hiatus from her popular show to work on several projects, including a movie version of her popular book and podcast Bag Man, about former Vice President Spiro Agnew.
“Like late night hosts sometimes go on hiatus on their shows, I’m going to go on hiatus here for a little bit from this show, so I can work on some of those other projects,” Maddow said earlier this week.
She's making a movie from her book "Bag Man". Ben Stiller is directing. She isn't running from, she's running to. It's the same thing TV used to do, filming all of their season in 39 weeks and leaving a quarter of the year for actors to work on other pet projects.
Ah, of course. Just as the dozens of other comparatively high-profile media and political leftists were doing when, all at almost the same time, they decided to jump ship.
"We're not retreating! We're just advancing in a new direction!"

This movie will in all likelihood make several million dollars for her. If she jumps ship, it will be to move onto her yacht.
Comedy late-night hosts have taken long absences from their nightly job for years and years.
When Johnny Carson ruled late-night, he found the daily grind wa too much to take for him after years of it and began negotiating more time off with NBC.
He got it, and he got the Tonight Show cut down from 90 minutes nightly to 60. His absences never hurt the show's ratings any, and it allowed several other comics to become well-known enough to take over the job once Carson retired.
So it worked out well for both the individual and for the network.
Nothing new about this, except that news people who are on daily are doing the same now.
As a commercial enterprise, this could be good for Maddow and her network as time passes once viewers get used to watching some substitutes.
I predict her ratings will rise while she is gone.
Worked for Hillary. The less she appeared on TV, the higher her polls went.
Until the election.
