Joe Rogan and Tulsi Gabbard if I had to put faces to it. A party that is open to debate and not beholden to special interests, and respects the people.
In the Senate, probably Joe Manchin, Kristen Sinema, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney. Maybe Dr. Oz if he wins in PA, although I'm not sure where his politics stand.
Eventually they could try to lure Amy Klobuchar and Democrats in the middle of the country, who are more Left but not really woke Left. And Republicans like Mitch McConnell who might get censured by the GOP.
The House dynamics might not support many moderate candidates, however, as districts are drawn less competitive.
A third party candidate for President, from a Moderate Party, ultimately dilutes from both sides or one side more than the other but results in no candidate over 50%, even though the idea of a moderate President is less polarizing.
* More rational thinking; less extremism.
* A certain tolerance for those with different views.
* Evidence-based policies, rather than political experiments.
* A focus on infrastructure, education, and economic stability.
* Issues with no ideal solution should find a middle ground.

I agree with both of the above lists. The moderate party would have a safety net that was just that - a safety net for when you fall, not a long-term lifestyle. Regulations that will protect health and safety and encourage competition but not strangle innovation and growth. It would support people's decisions that don't hurt other people such as allowing same sex marriage and legalization of marijuana. Sensible immigration policies. It would be exactly that - not extreme with respect to any issue.
Ten or fifteen years ago, the Democrats were more of a liberal-centrist coalition. That has really fallen away in recent years. But, I think the Dems are going to be facing big electoral challenges in the coming years with the party struggling to win the Senate in particular. I think that will gradually force them to move to the center again or to at least build up more of a moderate wing.
I think that is far more likely than a third party emerging.
There is no such thing as a moderate. You either believe in something or you don't. A person of conviction can hold strong beliefs that cross-party platforms. But once they sacrifice their convictions to appease the masses (whether it is to be reelected or for media approval), that person is a self-serving coward, not a moderate.
