Billionaires are wealthy, millionaires, not so much. Perhaps if you have hundreds of millions, but just a plain old millionaire is pretty common. I've never made more than $50-60 K a year, wife about the same, but we worked hard, saved hard, sacrificed, and now in retirement have a net worth of just under three million, more than I'll ever spend. If I have some left when I go, the daughter wins..!
I don't consider myself anywhere close to rich. I still watch every penny like it is the last one, you never know what can happen, a serious illness can BK us in a hurry.
One thing a decent bank account does allow for, I sleep well and never have to worry about those unexpected financial surprises that seem to pop up all too often, even though I hate them when they come along.
Too many people get a few dollars ahead and can't wait to go spend it on some foolish pleasure, I get my satisfaction when I get some extra money and stick it in the bank and watch it grow.
Hard work and good decisions, the path to a successful future. Anyone can do it, most aren't interested and would rather complain when the money runs out.
Pretty much the thread. The poor don't employ anyone nor do they pay taxes to move the Country forward. If you want socialism there are already Countries that have it if that suites your needs. Unfortunately for Americans, they don't want us leaching off of them.
Do you think no one should have millions/billions of dollars?
Give me one good reason I should care. I didn't earn their millions, so why should I or anyone else lay claim to it?
If there is one commandment from Christianity that needs to be drilled into everyone's head with a very large mining pneumatic impact rock drill it is "Thou Shalt Not Covet." Following that alone would stop 95% of the problems we have in the world.
I don't think wrong for a person to own $1 billion dollars. Or several billion dollars. If he works hard for it, good for him. It's only because the right wing people from the south or where ever there is a steeple, are complaining that moral values should be taught. Rich people cannot ruin other people lives like they are doing. I see no other oppositions to this situation. But then that is just a small fraction of the population. The rich however, rise above them all and own a lot of material wealth.

If you are employed then you pay taxes. And very few get rich on their own. They need workers do make it happen. All I'm saying is to take care of them and give them what they deserve for making you rich.
It's their workers who produce and work hard. Without them they wouldn't be making millions. I don't care who has millions. But if they have millions then they should have no problem paying their employees a wage that they can live on, maybe even more. They should also pay their full healthcare and other benefits. They certainly have the money, so why not. Take care of those who work for you and made whatever company you own a fortune. Now, if your investments made you a millionaire then bravo. They owe nothing to anyone, well except taxes.
The path to being a millionaire or billionaire started with them working their butts off till the business started moving, not to many lazy people make millions unless they won the lottery.

There is an excellent book I always recommend when it comes to the wealth inequality issue: The Millionaire Next Door.
The bulk of millionaires in the US belongs to the category of being 'next door' to you. They are cheapskates, shop at Walmart, cut coupons, their children go to public schools, they drive used cars, and work at least 60 hrs/week. In other words, %90 of the time, you would not recognize an actual millionaire if you walk next to him/her.
Once, I lived within dog walking distance to three millionaires in an average middleclass blue collar neighborhood. No HOA. Shadetree mechanics working their cars in the yards. Children playing in the streets. Everyone helps everyone shovels the sidewalk snow. And no one would think there were three millionaires in the area. I only learned of them by accident. Only one drove a BMW, the other two had Chevy and Ford. Their houses were larger than everyone else but nothing extraordinary.
For most of the American millionaires, their wealth are estimated, not actual cash. Not like Scrooge McDuck. If a machine shop is estimated worth of 1 million dollars, the owner probably draws the average $65k/yr, but on the books, he is a millionaire. For the liberal activists, the owner somehow wields enormous local political power when in reality the owner just work and sleep, day after day.

I am not jealous of others. I don't care what other people have. I worry about myself and my family. I am happy. I hope others are happy. I do no begrudge anyone having more than I do.
