Mike McIntire gives a nice overview of both shifting claims and outright lies.
Lying about the size of the apartment seems very strange - but someone once did that to me.
Trump Makes New Claims About His Wealth
For Trump, a Perilous Exclamation Point to Years of Wealth Inflation
The former president has spent decades inventing facts and figures to suit his needs. Now, dropped by his accountants, he is making new claims.
Now, though, he faces multiple investigations that threaten to hold his questionable claims up to the light. In New York, two law enforcement inquiries are examining whether he fraudulently submitted overblown real estate valuations to secure loans.
For Trump, such casual dalliances with inaccuracies and lies have long been central to his modus operandi... https://news.yahoo.com/trump-perilou...125443612.html
I don't even think about him anymore. It's such a relief to not wake up and hear what craziness he's tweeted during the night. Around here people are talking about how to get rid of the stupidity of calling people "it" and the high prices due to covid, being able to get dental and dr appointments again while covid is down for a while. We're sick of politically correct and we're also sick of hearing about places like Texas with their idiotic new laws. Sick of hearing about Florida and their authoritarian governor too. That's what people talk about but Trump? Who?
The more you brag about it, the less you actually have of it. In high school, there's always that one dude who claims to be getting all the girls. Inevitably, you realize he's lying about most if not all of them. Trump is the same way about money.

Nearly 6 years after coming down the golden escalator Trump’s new app hit #1 on the Apple App Store within a few hours.

When you think about Trump one word needs to immediately come to mind: pathological. Realize that and everything about him starts coming into focus.
The value of Trump to the media news networks makes him worth more than anyone in the world.
Imagine the rating and advertising dollars that have surrounded covering Donald Trump.
He is the most thought of and talked about living person EVER. That has a value.
He really could figure out the going ad rate for MSM TV channels, do a calculation of how many times in a week they mention him, and put some crazy figure on paper. I mean, if 20% of CNN stories that draw viewers are Trump-based, then look at 20% of their ad revenue. That's what he's worth, just to CNN.
However, I want to thank the OP for posting an article from last week from the NYTimes. This is a bit buried, and I doubt many TDS'ers read this far, so I wanted to make sure they saw it:

Mazars also prepared his tax returns, though the firm did not raise doubts about those in its letter.
Intentionally filing false tax returns with the government is a criminal offense, and there has been no indication that prosecutors are pursuing that avenue. As such, Trump’s tax filings have long been considered perhaps the most accurate portrayal of his financial condition.
Tax filings tell you about your INCOME condition (and really, your cash flow). Tax filings are your cost basis on assets. They are not your market value - which is where the financial know-nothings lose the argument about giving one figure for tax purposes and another for financial statement purposes.
