Presumably they are short term servicemen put through a "shake and bake" school and are as inexperienced as their troops. While it worked during WWII when the millions of conscripts fought each other it lead to problems with many of the world's armies, like American failures when NCO's quit rather than return to Vietnam for additional tours. When millions were not fighting the more professional regulars are more effective than the 2 year troop and squad leader.

bwahahaha. My uncle did 4 12-15 months combat tours in nam and only quit when they would not allow him back (4 tours in any one conflict was allowed back then) he found something he was good at.

Looks like Russia is ready for round 2.

They're likely looking for some sort of morale or propaganda win early so they'll likely grab something easy and then declare how great they're doing.

Some more about the arrest and imprisonment of Besada, head of the FSB Fifth Service…

Putin ‘purges’ 150 FSB agents in response to Russia’s botched war with Ukraine

… In the years before the invasion, the Fifth Service had been active in trying to destabilise Ukraine through cultivation of pro-Russian political figures and attempts to foment unrest among far-right groups in western Ukraine.

Grozev said that he believed Russian security services had wasted “billions of dollars” on failed attempts to secure support from the “shady political class” in Ukraine in the lead-up to the war.

“From 2014 to the present day, between 140 and 150 FSB officers had an unlimited budget to spend on recruiting Ukrainians of any level,” he said in a discussion with two journalists from Novaya Gazeta last month.

Grozev added that much of the money was spent wooing Ukrainian recruits with expensive trips to Thailand, Cyprus and the Maldives. “It was money that they never earned,” he added, referring to the total failure of the FSB’s attempts to stir up unrest in Ukraine.

You are just further exposing your ignorance. The expression used was that they would out last us in much the same way children bury their parents.
