WHY DOES RUSSIA...have a problem with the U.S. supplying weapons to Ukraine, when during the Vietnam war, it was all good to supply the North with weapons to kill American servicemen and women?

There is nothing we can do to prevent that from happening. The best way to prevent it would be to remove the threat now before he has a chance to rebuild the USSR.

Regardless of how the Ukrainian war turns out in terms of borders, at the end Russia will continue to decay in place and world-wide sanctions will never be lifted.
The population will become poorer and poorer, the infrastructure will deteriorate, the army, navy and air force will slowly halt operations until operations become impossible due to mechanical failure at every level.

In 15 years Russia will resemble Cuba, but a whole lot bigger. Their nuclear weapons will rot in place. It takes very much more than "pressing a button" to launch a nuclear missile and Russia will find themselves unable to do it even if they wanted.
Population decline will insure this monstrosity of a country never returns to power.

As that inevitably takes place the Russian people will have to account for this monstrosity of a leader they supported which allowed these events to happen...very similar to what the Germans had to do in in the 20th century. Such is the fate of supporting and sustaining an Autocracy which is now reaching a state of Totalitarianism. This is about Putin's unchecked power in Russia. How many times has this happened in history?? The Strong Man Autocrats always seem to meet this fate and so many people have to suffer for one man's actions. We're not perfect in this country...but we ain't this.

Unfortunately the sanctions will have limited effect. From the reports I have seen, the sanctions are more of an inconvenience, then anything else. The sanctions have caused foreign businesses in Russia to shut down, and foreign products are not available. But it's a boom for Russian products and business.

It would be like what would happen if the entire world put sanctions on the US. People would have to switch to buying American products. Which would make a lot of Americans happy. Not all, but a lot. Same thing in Russia. Many Russians just look at this as an opportunity for Russia to be more independent and not rely on foreign products.

Russia is a big country, and it has a lot of resources. The Russian people are not really fazed by the sanctions.

That, and the fact that 2/3rds of world population would be happy to bring Russia anything they miss in the short term, and the other 1/3rd is scared to death Russia will stop selling them what they need.

And Russian empire had been under sanctions for the majority of the 20th century and it wasn't that bad.

In other related news; ( from Telegram)

In the DNR, Ukrainian militants mined the dam of the reservoir of the Uglegorsk thermal power station; if it explodes, it can flood Svetlodarsk, Mironovsky, Lugansk - Russian Defense Ministry.

- In Konstantinovka, Ukrainian neo-Nazis mined an overpass across the railway track, they want to blow it up and accuse the Russian Federation of destroying civilian objects;

- Fake "about the atrocities of the Russians" after the planned destruction of the overpass in Konstantinovka by the neo-Nazis will be immediately replicated by the Western media;

- Over the past day, 14,606 people were evacuated to Russia from the DNR, LNR and dangerous regions of Ukraine, of which 2,328 are children, in total already 798,237 people - the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation;

- On Thursday, 6 humanitarian actions are being held in the DNR, LNR, Kherson and Kharkov regions, 502 tons of food, essentials are being transferred;

- 138,014 people have already been rescued from Mariupol through the humanitarian corridor in an easterly direction, including 815 over the past day;

- The Ukrainian side announced 9 humanitarian corridors for the current day, not a single one in the direction of Russia.

...and while at that, Russians evacuated some dog kennel in Kharkov region to Belgorod, out of the dangerous zone, that was under the cross fire.
