Yeah, just like Bush the Younger said: "We must fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here." We lost that fight and retreated, but we didn't have to fight them over here either. Just sayin'.

I imagine the people of Ukraine will have a say in this matter.

Well you have polls

Big majority of Americans back sanctions on Russia, aid to Ukraine, poll finds

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...support-biden/

CBS News poll — War in Ukraine: What should the U.S. do now?

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ukraine...ll-2022-04-09/

But more important than that is that congressmen represent their constituents in order to get re-elected.....the $40 Billion in additional military, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine to fight against Russia's invasion passed the US House of Representatives by an overwhelming bi-partisan 368-57 vote. They even increased the level of aid from what the president proposed. That does not happen unless the vast majority of the country supports Ukraine. Period.

Since mid-March, Russia has been trying to cobble together a referendum for Kherson with no success - not even a plausible sham. About one-half of the population of Kherson fled. The city's elected mayor, Ihor Kolykhaiev, dismissed for not cooperating with Russia. Kirill Stremousov, the deputy head of the military administration Russia put in place to run Kherson in late April when it seized its city council building, said today he wants to appeal to Putin for annexation. (What the Kremlin wants to do remains unclear with Peskov publicly talking referendum today.)

@nexta_tv
#Kherson region will return the coat of arms of the times of the #Russian Empire, collaborationist Kirill Stremousov said.

Stremousov is the guy who videoed himself swinging his 4mo daughter around his head making Michael Jackson look like father of the year: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/451314...nd-sick-video/ The video is something else as he gets her in a full loop by one arm.

Also today:

#Ukrainian military counterintelligence has conducted a number of arrests of people who are suspected of helping the #Russian army to quickly enter the region and the city of #Kherson in February. Some of these people have cooperated with #Russian intelligence services since 2016

Ukrainians say thousands would not have died in Mariupol had Kherson not been betrayed but instead defended according to plan. Zelensky earlier fired a couple of SBU generals.

Quote:
While other cities competently recruited, armed, and deployed their territorial defense forces—civilian partisans, Kherson seemingly willfully neglected theirs. ...

They were told to wait, wait, and wait, until eventually, the commander told them never mind, he had evacuated. Their desperate effort to cobble together any kind of resistance cost them 67 TDF soldiers, and that guy who died blowing one of the two bridges [who deliberately blew himself to bring the bridge down]. But in the end, the main bridge survived. ...

But this story is also one of hope, because this could've easily been the story of that entire region of Ukraine, seduced by FSB payoffs, handing over entire cities without a real fight. Things might look different if Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, and lots of other smaller cities had taken Russia up on its offers. Instead, Ukraine held fast everywhere except in Kherson, and the rest has been history.

I mean the President offered a $33 Billion Assistance to Ukraine and a bi-partisan congress upped to $40 Billion....how often does that happen?? No one with a half a brain is buying into Russian propaganda. No one see's Ukraine as lost. What we see is a isolated out of touch dictator make one the biggest military blunders in the history of Europe and now Russia is growing weaker with each passing day not able to replace men and equipment due to sanctions and the Ukrainians are growing stronger with every passing day.

Ahh, now you're understanding why the media only presents one side of the war to the US public. To manufacture consent for the proxy war against Russia.
Before the invasion, Ukraine bad. After invasion, Ukraine good.
US politicians, media, Wall St., MICC are all in bed with each other. To profit from war. Starts to make sense now doesn't it?

Didn't learn your lesson during Iraq's WMD lies? Study history, or perhaps old enough to remember the Gulf of Tonkin?
The US uses the same old playbook over and over and over again.
Can't believe people still fall for this ****.

Russia has been saying no to that (elections) under Minsk II for years. Only elections when it has control.

I'm sorry there is not a whole lot of ambiguity here. Russia invaded Ukraine....without justification....I'm sorry the de-Nazification of a country that elected a Jewish president did not register with people in US on all sides of the political spectrum. No propaganda needed on this one. The story and the facts speak for themselves. Russia lost the information war because they simply did not have a case to make.
