I find it interesting that, despite evidence such as videos, the West denies the existence of thousands of Nazi-like soldiers in the Ukrainian army, arguing that the president is Jewish. I don't think that is any contradiction, when I think of a certain country these days...

So, the serious military-political repercussions are not what Russia threatens, but what the Scandinavian step would constitute.
Saying that Russia would respond is not an ominous threat at all.

You are naive if you think Americans will tolerate being threatened by a nut like Putin with nukes. And there's the concept of MAD which has been in place since the Cold War days. Mutual assured destruction if Russia or anyone else launches nukes at us or an ally. Russians won't have much time to celebrate our destruction before their country becomes glass in that scenario.
So why should I be bothered if countries do to the US what you are ok with the US doing to other countries?
