I just commented on another posting here that has Trump talking about how foolish it was for Germany to sign on for the Russian pipeline to supply 70% of their energy needs.
I can hear Putin now, Germany you want to enforce the sanctions? Ok, how about we shut off the pipeline.
Biden tells us we are going to feel the pain of the sanctions but imagine 70% of the country having their energy shut off.
Putin just invaded a country and people are being killed. Does anyone really think he would care if more than half of Germany goes cold and dark with no fuel?
If/When it happens maybe Biden will allow us to become an energy exporter again?

Obviously, they (Germans) aren't overly concerned:
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline has been supported by Germany despite opposition from countries such as the US, UK, Poland and Ukraine. It cost €10bn (£8.4bn), with the funding split between Russian and Western energy companies.
But following Mr Putin's order to send troops to the rebel-held Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, Germany announced it was suspending the process of giving the pipeline between it and Russia an operating licence - effectively stopping the project until further notice.
And it's not 70% that Germany gets. Russia supplies Europe with about 40% of its gas, sourced from vast supplies in Russia's east.

They sure have not closed the valve on Nordstream 1 have they? Nor any of the Gas lines coming from Russia. Russian pipeline gas was Germanys largest supplier in 2021, no one else can make up that 40% you mention and the Krauts are not going to stop sucking that gas up..... By the way before someone start crowing about LNG , that's not happening either. There are not enough LNG tankers in the world to keep up with German consumption even if they had a unloading port (they don't)
