there is a russian/ukranian/belarus band called 'leonid & friends'. lookitup and listen to a few tunes. they are a note perfect chicago cover band, who never saw chicago live or in person EVER when they started performing. they learned from mostly bootleg recordings as american rock recordings were, and still somewhat are, outlawed in russia.
they are on US tour and I have tix I got over a year ago, for last year in pa. BUT, Biden froze visas for europeans last spring while opening up our southern border to visa-less transit (hence the political part) so our booked show, was bumped until they got visas in summer, now, instead of being near first on the tour, we are near last on the tour. no problem. you still have to hear them.
and it looks like they will be playing in june here. why should they not be? the country that some of the bands members are from, ceased last night. and because they are artists/performers...what does russia typically do to artists from seized countries? right - gulag.
will they all stay? will they go home?
