There is a good chance the entire public is being played. its just a matter of who is manipulating whom.
My friend and I were talking about the Russia vs Ukraine issue and China's "involvement". She brought up an interesting theory:
Russia is flexing it's military muscle, the costs could be astronomical.
China is quietly emboldening Russia with support (i.e "we have your back").
However, when push comes to shove, China backs out and Russia is knocked down at least one peg whereby China immediately becomes the #2 power in the world. And heck, considering how much the US owes them, they could easily claim the #1 power in the world status.
