Alberta, Canada has the 3rd largest proven oil reserves on the planet behind Saudi Arabia and Venezuala but Biden shutdown the building of a Canadian pipeline into the USA, Keystone XL ,due to pressure over climate change and fear of oil spills. That pipeline was 8 years in the planning and extensive consultations and billions in investment to go through all that only to end up with no permission to proceed with construction (using American pipe and parts as agreed).

It doesn't make sense to make such climate considerations when you know you will have to buy the short fall from Russian, Iran, Saudi Arabia, whose leaders who don't give a damn about climate or humanity.

It's okay to buy from sickos in the name of meeting climate targets. As long as you are not polluting your own country it's okay to do.

We need to think about the climate change

All kidding aside, the response from POTUS is so weak that Russia believes they can open another front

It’s natural gas we’re taking about, not oil. Europe gets 40% of their natural gas from Russia. Europe talks a big game but won’t go with higher heating bills to even sanction Russia.

Why other countries are not stepping in to help fight the Russians is beyond me? Europe has the most to lose.

Time to stop shaking in their boots.

Russia CAN BE DEFEATED IN UKRAINE if NATO gets its act together and supplies them with the material to take out the Russians. They do not need direct NATO troops on the ground. If the Russians collapse Ukraine, arm the partisans so that they drive the Russians out.

Tanks and helicopters are OBSOLETE TARGETS which are easily taken out by infantry fired missiles. The Russian army could be obliterated in Ukraine with the proper armaments and logistical support.

Correct- The Russians got their asses kicked in The Winter War and again in 1944 when they planned to invade Finland.

Well, previously, sure. I bet they’re considering it pretty strongly now.

Russia, like every country, wants friendly or neutral "buffer states" as neighbors, not countries in a military alliance arrayed against them.

All of this would have been avoided if NATO had just promised not to go into Ukraine.
But Napoleon and Hitler couldn't defeat Russia, so NATO shouldn't be dumb enough to think it could. Much easier to understand why Russia wants neutral appearing countries at its borders.
