There are currently three former soviet republics in Nato. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. What is to stop Putin from invading those countries with what's going on in Ukraine?

Would we really go in to a nuclear war over Estonia if Russia decided to invade them?

I don't mean supplying them Weapons. I mean boots on the ground sending our troops in to those countries.

Nato “An attack on one ally will trigger a response from the whole alliance."

We might find out. My guess is Putin will advance on one of the countries you mentioned. And use the same rhetoric that if NATO intervenes he will use nukes if necessary. Then it comes down to what NATO does next. Does Europe want to get into a ground war or worse just to save those Eastern block nations? So far those countries do not want to have any economic issues or lose their Russian oil supplies. So they are slapping Putin on the wrist. That is only going to embolden him.

It's not 1935. Hitler didn't have nukes.
Comparison fails.

There are other calculations to make regarding global hegemony. Upon Russia's hypothetical invasion of a NATO nation, the question changes from "how much do we care about Nation X" to "are we willing to allow our power in the world to decrease, while allowing the power of Russia and China to rise?"

What are the consequences to losing position and power to Russia and China? Think about that.

How would you decide the answers to these questions?

Yes, and President Biden kind of alluded to this in his speech, yesterday.

We need to start preparing, now. And President Biden needs to drop the f'in ban on new oil and gas leases and drilling permits, and STOP FUNDING THE ENEMY. This is no time to be worried about the climate.

President Biden's energy stance is a threat to National security.

I'm surprised Putin didn't invade Poland when we decided to put ballistic missiles on his doorstep.

That actually makes this situation worse. Putin has already said he will use nukes of Europe or the US gets in his way in Ukraine. He has opened that door and could use it again to invade other countries. Let me invade or I nuke you.
