Yep, that's why the Warsaw pact disentagrated and most of the former Soviet republics are now independent. With near unanimous hatred of Russia.
Exactly. This is why Putin is going after Ukraine. The Warsaw Pact was a buffer between the Soviet Union and the NATO countries. After the disintegration of the Warsaw Pact, followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia didn't have as much influence. Putin viewed the collapse of the Soviet Union as a horrible thing. He can't just get back the Baltic states. They're already part of NATO. Ukraine, however, Putin wants it. He is scared that Ukraine just might get into NATO. For Ukraine, it's about getting out of Russia's orbit. For Putin, it's about rebuilding an empire.

Right, but Putin is on the losing end. His country is a shambles of economic stagnation and population decline.

I know all about where Russia stands. Once the sanctions kick in, it will get ugly. But Putin will just whip up anti-Western fury. Putin seems more concerned about being a "strongman" than actually helping Russia thrive economically.
Kind of interesting how, when Russia does something really vile, people pop up on this forum defending them to the hilt, often using laughable excuses. And every time anybody offers them a legitimate challenge based on fact, their nonsense always turns out to be "merely a language gap problem, they didn't really mean that, it was a mistake".... despite the fact that the "mistake" always wound up supporting the vile actor and never their victim.
I probably shouldn't answer you but I resent being accused of supporting Russia. If you don't care to clarify what the OP from Turkey was asking, then just carry on talking to yourself about your own thoughts about Russia, Ukraine and your fellow posters on CD.
One day, I left my bicycle outside and it got stolen.
Are you seriously comparing 'leaving your bike outside and it getting stolen' to a murderous invasion of a sovereign state!!
