Because Ukraine isn't the hill worth dying on. Escalation serves to only raise the likelihood of instant sunshine throughout the European and North American continents. Besides, if the worst Ukraine has to accept is a neutral foreign policy with their military in charge then that's better than other scenarios. Since their previous government was overthrown through the assistance of foreign organisations and Obama's assistant secretary of state to Europe, Victoria Nuland, I'm not feeling quite as anxious about the potential outcome through negotiations.

Democratic and free countries watching another country getting demolished and bullied by a communist country, in 2022, is pretty disgusting. This makes the US and allies a bunch of hypocrites who don't mind watching innocent men, women, children literally slaughtered in front of our eyes, it's sick!

In any case, time for dirty tactics and bring in lessons learned from Afghanistan, the Ukrainians are willing to fight, we should give them every dirty tools in our trade---10K javelins and stingers, drones that they can fly within LOS, APCs with machine guns, thousands of C4 to booby trap areas, 50 cal sniper rifle, mini guns, a134 Gatling gun...I could go on and on with these equipment that can give the Ukranians huge advantage. We did this to the Russians in Afghanistan, we can do it again here.

Now, the dirty tactics--vehicle borne IED's, IED's planted inside dead animals, and here is my favorite--Ukranian commando who can pilot and steal a plane full of fuel, dive into Russian warships, tanks and troops---how about fly one into Moscow and target Kremlin...

This is an all out war where ROE or LOAC is non-existent---I hope someone from Ukraine is reading this.

Macron wants to end NATO and form an EU Army. So doubt he cares about forcing Ukraine into NATO, because he doesn't care about NATO. Plus France shares nuclear technology with China and sells diesel engines for Chinese submarines; they are not shy about doing business with the other team.

Germany was building Nordstream 2, an oil pipeline to Russia. 34% of Germany's crude oil came from Russia in January-October 2021.

As a superpower weakens, it's sphere of influence will shrink, and countries will start ignoring it and advance their own interests.

Afghanistan is corrupt and plenty of countries sent troops there to support the War on Terror.

The difference is Taliban is different than fighting a nuclear power.

There is a long history between Russia and Ukrain, it's not just a random invasion. We don't have to like it but it's not our fight, the USA doesn't have reason to interfere. Like we don't interfere with the many other wars that take place regularly in far off places. And let's be honest here, most people don't really spend time thinking about this at all except to be part of an internet convo...many people are reacting as if this is the first "war" that's happened in the world since they've been alive or something. Nope, most people just don't worry about wars that don't effect them.

“Trying.” That’s a generous word to use.

They’re the poorest country in Europe, clearly they weren’t trying very hard.

It took Japan roughly 2 decades to recover from WW2

Talk for yourself Ceece it is worrying to see babies being carried out of their homes to flee for safety ...no one wants to see this it doesnt matter what country it is or how safe we feel sitting in our comfy homes... this is a very serious issue that needs our empathy and help.. We mostly do spend time worrying about this and NOT just on some forum so please dont herd us all into your own selfish little world..

Forget about fighting, we won’t even sanction Russia’s natural gas out of fear of what it will do to the economy.

When you’re soft people take advantage. God help the Ukrainian nation. Their desire to be free should be an inspiration to all.
