Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan provide a considerable amount of the world's energy and oil coupled with Russia. You're looking at substantial disruptions to global commerce should they choose to fully back Russia in their aims against the sanctions. The alienation of Russia isn't going to be just hurting them as we've already learned in regards to their fertiliser exports to other nations.
Of course. This will require sacrifice from many even US consumers. Oh no, the horror. This is normal operating procedure in times of war. Russia (meaning crazy man Putin) needs to be stopped. That is going to require sacrifice. The Russians will suffer much more, that is the whole idea. I feel bad for their people but hopefully they stand up and get rid of Putin.

Despite the fact that Russia, China and others have been chipping away at it and preparing for a future where scenario is no longer far-fetched.
China is a possibility for this scenario but I don’t think Russia is. They only have population of 43 million and the Ruple is worth nothing. The Chinese on the other hand have real growing power and continue to manipulate their currency. From a world power standpoint I fear China much more than Russia. Russia can be feared from a nuclear weapon standpoint.

Correct, China hates America more than they love Russia.

Anything that tips the global scale of power back to America and the West would enrage China. China and Russia hate the west, they will never stop hating the west.

Try global markets, not just the United States, and the ripple effects those would have on other sectors due to the inextricability of energy with everything else. Collectively those three countries and their production make up oil exportation to the tune of roughly 20% of the world supply. In natural gas they comprise 25% roughly of export supply. This doesn't take into account Biden shutting down many of our own pipelines, mind you, so the figure is probably different.

In addition, Russia is a major supplier of crop fertiliser. If that supply is being curtailed what do you suppose is the resultant effects? Either that supply will need to come from somewhere else or crop viability and production wanes leading to higher costs in food. You're probably looking at substantial cost increases all around, assuming the supply line can be stabilised which seems difficult given that Saudi Arabia has already announced that they wouldn't increase oil production iirc.

You don’t seem to understand, Stan. In the scenario being responded to, the US would essentially be first striking them, after a Russsian hit on a NATO country. It would be lights out Russia.
