The details are not in yet but this is a good move. However back in 2014 Putin called this sort of action as an act of war. Will he say that now and what might happen next?
The west had plenty of time to plan a response. How long was Russia moving towards taking over Ukraine. Yet when it happened they seemed unprepared for what to do next.
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan provide a considerable amount of the world's energy and oil coupled with Russia. You're looking at substantial disruptions to global commerce should they choose to fully back Russia in their aims against the sanctions. Easy. A new cold war and arms race, especially WMD's.
We are in a new cold war. Arms race is a longer term situation. Short term Putin can threaten the west or actually do something. He is apparently frustrated as to how the invasion is going. Now he is being cut off from the world economy. I am not sure he expected any of this.
Could that even be possible if they've been cut off?
Nobody supports Russia rn. Putin and his band of oligarchs are on their own.
As long as we don't have people like Hillary Clinton, giving them more uranium.
