How so? I understand Russia not wanting NATO base and missiles 350 miles from Moscow similar to how we wouldn’t accept their missiles in Cuba.
What I don’t want to do is back an angry dog into a corner and give him no way out. Especially when that dog has a nuclear weapon kill switch. Zelensky seems to have leverage right now, use it to open a door for Putin to retreat and sell a “victory”.

I agree. I think Putin realizes he kicked a hornets nest with this move and is looking for a way out. I think Ukraine knows it is just a matter of time until Russia takes them over and this is their last shot.
They need to come up with an agreement even if Ukraine doesn't join nato.

Exactly! Zelensky would be a hero and could build up his military even more and buy them from our defense contractors. Russia would think twice before testing them again.

One of Putin's demands is for Ukraine to demilitarize. You might want to read up on his demands. It is Putin who has the upper hand now, not Ukraine.
I'm pretty sure these weapons were used by Russia in 2014. The USA has also used these types of weapons, and worse, in the past. Not saying this is good, but this is war. This is what it looks like, and it is always ugly. I'm not quite sure these weapons are considered WMDs though.
I don’t like the proxy war this is turning into. Russia will escalate, the EU and NATO will respond until it’s a full scale war over a non NATO country? Zelensky needs to come to an agreement with Putin very soon and commit to not joining NATO in return for staying in office and Ukraine remains independent from Russian control. Zelensky can be a hero and Putin can have an out with the commitment to not join NATO
That's the outcome I'm putting my money on. Putin may pick up the two separatist regions in the east....then let's just call it a day. This is probably making China think real hard about Taiwan. Regardless this has had the opposite effect of what Putin wanted most....a divided NATO and EU. They are united now. Germany is making a commitment to build their military and the European nations are scrambling to find new energy sources. This hurt Russia.
