IMO much of what many have described in their posts is well covered by a professor at the Univ. of Chicago.
Check out his video on Youtube. His name is John Mearsheimer.

That's a good answer.

This is a wakeup call to the world- we need more nuclear power. Wind and solar are great, but they can't replace natural gas power *today*. The only thing that can do that is nuclear. Wind, solar, and batteries will take too long to fully implement, and can't come near to producing enough to feed every grid.

If Germany used nuclear to produce power instead of natural gas, it could have actually stood up to Putin instead of pretending to sanction him while leaving a channel open to buy their gas. Putin is laughing all the way to the bank (which will remain open, or EU's lights will turn off).

A nuclear-armed state breaks up.
In the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, the United States, Russia, and Britain committed “to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” and “to refrain from the threat or use of force” against the country.
Those assurances played a key role in persuading the Ukrainian government in Kyiv to give up what amounted to the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal, consisting of some 1,900 strategic nuclear warheads. Those nukes weren't Ukrainian. They were Russian, but stationed in many places of Soviet Union, including big chunk in Ukraine. Russia took them, because Ukrainian military already started selling some nukes to Pakistan and elsewhere. They also sold the blueprints for the ICBMs to North Korea and Iran.
Don't forget the 11 bio-labs funded by the Pentagon that were constructed in Ukraine. They have been taken out by Russia.

Biden and his intelligence agency knew there was a huge military build up surrounding Ukraine. They damn well knew they were funding it through buying Russian oil at a huge price. So they slept for months doing NOTHING. If I knew from common sense that Putin was going into Ukraine why didn't they prepare? Why didn't they stop buying the oil ? Because they are idiots waiting for a crisis to happen, not averting it. They allow crisis after crisis and do nothing. The also create a crisis . We would be better off with a common sense guy off the street in the White House.

The Ruble is now worth less than a penny -- slightly more than Monopoly money. They can burn them to keep warm. Interest rates have risen to 20% from 9.5% a day or two ago. Russia already has an inflation problem, and it is going to get much worse. There is a run on the banks and ATMs. The Russian stock market has suspended trading until at least March 5th. They have been shut out of everything that matters. Russia has been kicked out of the World Cup and any Russian teams are removed from international games in Europe. The International Ice Hockey Federation Council suspended all Russian and Belarusian national and club teams from IIHF competitions and events “until further notice” due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The IIHF also announced that Russia will be stripped of hosting the 2023 World Junior Championship in Novosibirsk.

Putin's only friend is Trump and the puppet in Minsk. Belarus should face the same sanctions imposed on Russia since they are in full support and engagement in the invasion. Even Putin's own military wonders WTF? There are reports of Ukrainians driving away with Russian equipment.

This is all on Putin and has nothing to do with current US domestic politics no matter how hard you try to twist or spin it that way.

America and Europe have not been culpable for anything, for a very long time.

So don’t hold your breath.

We don't want to push Putin over the edge. People should be aware Putin is deranged. This is a guy who if he was going down hard wouldn't hesitate to take his enemies down with him i.e. nuclear conflict. So we'd best tread very carefully.
