California to drop school mask mandate after March 11

Quote:
California will drop school masking requirements after March 11, leaving the decision up to districts and local jurisdictions, state officials announced Monday.

Currently, California students and teachers have to mask up indoors at K-12 schools statewide, regardless of vaccination status.

After next week, masks will be recommended but not required by the state at schools and child care facilities.
But the teachers just can't give up their power.

Quote:
The state’s largest school district, L.A. Unified, has an agreement with the teachers union to require masks indoors at least through the end of the school year. KTLA has reached out to the district for an update.

United Teachers Los Angeles President Cecily Myart-Cruz said it is premature to discuss removing health and safety measures while there are still many unvaccinated children at schools.
Of course, this is great news. But just more proof of how much all of this is based on "science". After all apparently, COVID is still a huge risk and issue until March 11th. But almost like magic on March 12th COVID just disappears. Well unless you are in a school district that is run by the Teachers Union, then apparently "science" says that you must continue to mask up.

This announcement from California was joined in by Oregon and Washington.

Oregon, Washington join California in dropping school mask mandates

All in time for President Biden's State of the Union address.

Do you see the political theater, Democrats? Do you see how you're being played? What science came out today that led them to make this decision?

California's governor Gavin Newsom has done a good job following the science.

His shutdowns, mask orders and encouragement of vaccinations have paid off: California's death rate of 2,156 per million ranks No. 40. Red states Mississippi, Arizona and Alabama rank 1, 2 and 3 have had much higher rates (4,045 to 3,717 deaths per million).

So all the Karens whining and stomping their feet about wearing masks or getting the shots were proven wrong and they protested for nothing. If they had complied and had been patient, the mandates and requirements are being lifted based on the science anyway and we would have been spared all of their childish drama.

Is that why he was mask less in the French Laundry restaurant while there was an indoor mask mandate in place? How was he following the science, then? Didn't Governor Newsom send positive Covid patients into nursing homes, too?

What Science is he using that is able to tell us that on March 12th COVID is no longer an issue for schools, but on March 11th it is.

Perhaps you should tell the Teachers Unions that the governor is just following the science. As they are saying that it is still too early to talk about demasking.

I guess the Teachers Union science could be different. Of course, it also could be just a case that the Teachers Unions aren't up for re-election this year.

Yes and no...without them pushing back who knows how far the mask police would have pushed. It's all about balance. I get what you are saying though...misplaced anger can be toxic.

Plus the early lockdowns really did do more harm than good.

“following the science” means politicians mandating what people can and cant do opposed to giving people the information and tools based on scientific research to let them make their own decisions; is anti science according to people like elliot.

At least they're finally following the science after two long years of destroying the lives and businesses of their constituents. Now we need to make sure every Democrat who participated in creating and prolonging the "mitigation" nonsense is fired. If they aren't fired, they're just going to do it again after the midterms.

Our state has done just as well without the mask mandates and being open, I haven’t worn a mask in over a year.
